After-School Academic Assistance
About the role
Qualifications:
District 227 is seeking faculty to provide academic assistance for students in three after-school programs. These programs are: after-school tutoring, after-school credit recovery, and after-school Constitution Test preparation. All three programs will meet four days a week, Monday- Thursday from 3:30-4:30. Applicants will be asked to indicate which program(s) they are interested in and the days of the week they will commit to leading.
All students will be welcome to attend after-school tutoring, but effort will be made to recruit students earning grades of D or F in multiple courses. Some students may need tutorial assistance, but many will simply need greater focus on completion of late or missing assignments, studying for upcoming assessments, or revision of their work. Faculty who can offer encouragement while holding students accountable for completing tasks will be ideal for this program. All certified faculty are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to applicants who are familiar with ninth-grade level coursework and/or mathematics.
Students enrolled in online credit recovery will be recruited to attend these after-school work sessions. Faculty who can offer encouragement while holding students accountable for completing tasks will be ideal for this program. All certified faculty are welcome to apply, but preference will be given to applicants who are familiar with the online credit recovery system.
