About the role

Our Mission

SPAN is enabling electrification for all ⚡

We are a mission-driven company designing, building, and deploying products that electrify the built environment, reduce carbon emissions, and slow the effects of climate change.

  • Decarbonization is the process to reduce or remove greenhouse gas emissions, especially carbon dioxide, from entering our atmosphere.

  • Electrification is the process of replacing fossil fuel appliances that run on gas or oil with all-electric upgrades for a cleaner way to power our lives.

At SPAN, we believe in:

  • Enabling homes and vehicles powered by clean energy

  • Making electrification upgrades possible

  • Building more resilient homes with reliable backup

  • Designing a flexible and distributed electrical grid

The Role

We are looking for a driven, dynamic sales leader to manage the home builder business in California. This role blends strategic planning, business development, and in-market relationship building. You will play a critical part in setting the strategic direction of the market - working with financing companies, large install partners, and OEMs in the solar and storage market to aid builders in meeting the building code while delivering an excellent homeowner experience.

This is an exciting opportunity for a sales leader eager to build a profitable new market category that challenges industry norms while building and expanding existing partnerships. Join SPAN and become a vital force in shaping a sustainable future, enabling electrification across diverse industries and applications.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Success

    • Develop a sales strategy with clear objectives, actions and outcome metrics that delivers incremental home builder volume in California. Requires an understanding of TPO (third-party-ownership) financing models that exist in the solar and storage industry.

    • Directly manage a territory to deliver sales. Build a deep understanding of the product, market fit, customer journey, go-to market models, and SPAN value to effectively build market sales volume.

    • Deliver clear, tailored pitches that highlight SPAN’s product value and program benefits, adapting your discussions based on the customer’s needs and business opportunities.

    • Lead strategic high-value partner engagements with your communication skills, business acumen and executive presence.

    • Collaborate with Eaton and SPAN Builder Ops teams in the market to ensure projects are developed and executed to the technical specifications of the builders while reducing channel conflict that results in maximized sales outcomes for both SPAN and Eaton.

    • Participate in key market visits (~6-10 days/month) to deliver on sales targets - includes sales calls with builders and installers, trade shows, training, or site visits.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making

    • Regularly analyze home starts, home closings, and production builder market movements to identify top opportunities, applying strategic thinking and keen business acumen.

    • Develop data-driven QBR templates that result in deeper commitment and sales outcomes in the category.

    • Use Salesforce to track engagement, funnel conversion, and activation status.

    • Maintain clean, accurate CRM data and contribute to team-level forecasting, showcasing excellent planning and priority setting.

  • Business Planning and Execution

    • Develop region, territory and channel business plans, collaborating closely with territory managers and sales leadership to align on strategic targets and priorities, that drive increased demand for SPAN products.

    • Manage and contribute to team enablement efforts—sharing feedback, identifying blockers, and supporting continuous improvement.

    • Collaborate with Product Management to support voice of customer, feature prioritization, and customer experience visits to deliver on a robust product roadmap that meets customer needs.

    • Partner with Channel Marketing Program Leads to develop robust programs that optimize sales impact across production builders, installers, and other entities that influence the outcomes of regional sales success.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and plan in a complex and ever changing sales environment

  • Forecast management: Skilled in developing and delivering a forecast with >80% accuracy and working across functions (e.g. supply chain, sales ops, territory managers)
