Position summary

The Software Developer is a core member of the team that develops manufacturing applications empowered by AI. Work is centered around developing new applications and enhancing/operating those existing applications: building features, fixing defects, supporting users, and keeping both applications secure and reliable in Azure GCC High. Additionally, work will involve meeting the IT demands of Voyager's production sites, working from business requirements through design, build, test, release, and support.

The developer writes production code using AI and expertise, reviews teammates' changes, writes tests and documentation, and takes part in releases and incident response. The developer works directly with engineers, technicians, quality staff, and program managers to understand how work is actually done before designing how software should support it.

The work

  • Manufacturing - Product lifecycle and manufacturing execution platform and piloting with lines of business. Enhance engineering and manufacturing BOMs, change control, release baselines, shop-floor work-instruction execution, quality and nonconformance records, controlled drawings and evidence, and the migration of data from legacy systems.
  • Demand Planning - Resource-planning tool for program and engineering managers. Enhance planning grids, dashboards, actuals from NetSuite, capacity and demand views, proposals, the AI analytics assistant, notifications, exports, and reporting; maintain NetSuite synchronization and the scheduled jobs behind it.
  • New manufacturing applications - Design and build new applications for Voyager's manufacturing sites. Examples include inventory and materials management, shop-floor tools, and applications for sites with different processes. Where it makes sense, new applications reuse existing platform, identity, and data foundations rather than starting from scratch.

Key responsibilities

Build and enhance

  • Deliver features. Turn prioritized requirements into working, tested software in small, reviewable changes, using the team's branching, review, and release process.
  • Design sensibly. Propose and implement designs for new features and applications, including data models, interfaces, access control, and audit requirements; record significant decisions so others can follow them.
  • Build new manufacturing applications. Take new applications from requirements to production use: gather requirements from technical business analysts and site users, prototype, build, pilot, train users, and hand over to operations.
  • Build and maintain integrations with NetSuite, IdP, telemetry, and other systems, using least-privilege credentials and the team's secret-handling standards.
  • Use AI to improve development efficiency and empower rapid scalable delivery of applications and services.

Quality and operations

  • Test thoroughly. Write unit, integration, and database tests; keep the continuous-integration suite green; verify changes against realistic data before release.
  • Support production. Investigate and fix defects, answer user questions, take part in the on-call or escalation rotation, and contribute to post-incident reviews.
  • Keep the platform healthy. Apply dependency and security updates, help maintain pipelines, monitoring, backups, and failover readiness, and keep runbooks current.

Security and compliance

  • Protect controlled data. Follow company policy and Cybersecurity requirements for export-controlled and sensitive data; build access control, audit trails, and input validation into every feature.
  • Be accountable for AI-assisted work. The team uses AI coding assistants. The developer specifies work clearly, reads and understands every generated change before submitting it, tests it, and states plainly what has and has not been verified.

Collaboration

  • Work with users. Meet with engineers, technicians, quality, supervisors, and program managers; observe the process being supported; give clear notice of user-interface and workflow changes.
  • Share knowledge. Document code, operations, and decisions so that any teammate can ship, deploy, and recover the applications; review others' changes constructively.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience building and supporting web applications.
  • Comprehensive prompting experience in delivery of sustainable code through accurate requirements interpretation.
  • Proficiency in languages such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Node.js, Python, Ruby, Go, and in a modern front-end framework such as React.
  • Solid SQL and relational database skills (SQL Server or Azure SQL preferred), including schema design and migrations.
  • Experience writing automated tests and working in a code-review and continuous-integration workflow (Git and GitHub or similar).
  • Working knowledge of cloud-hosted applications (Azure preferred) and single sign-on / role-based access.
  • Ability to understand a business process from users and translate it into software; clear written and verbal communication.
  • Eligibility to work with export-controlled information (U.S. person).

Preferred

  • Experience in manufacturing or engineering systems such as PLM, MES, ERP, quality, inventory, or resource planning.
  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense manufacturing concepts: bills of materials, configuration and change control, travelers, nonconformance, traceability.
  • Experience with NetSuite integration (SuiteQL or REST),IdP, Azure Government, Bicep or similar infrastructure as code, and GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI or similar services, or with disciplined use of AI coding assistants.
  • Experience building shopfloor or tablet-friendly interfaces, or applications used by non-technical staff.
  • Experience working in environments governed by NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, or similar frameworks.
