Experience: Strictly 4+ years

Mandatory eligibility: Candidates must have 4 or more years of relevant professional experience and hands-on experience in Actimize, Java, SQL, cloud, and the Financial Crime Compliance domain. Candidates below 4 years or without any mandatory skill or domain experience are not eligible.

The opportunity

Join a Financial Crime Technology team delivering enterprise solutions for global financial services clients. The role requires strong hands-on engineering capability across NICE Actimize, Java, advanced SQL, and cloud platforms, supported by practical Financial Crime Compliance domain knowledge. The successful candidate will contribute to solution design, development, integration, deployment, optimization, and production support while guiding junior engineers and working directly with technical and business stakeholders.

Role overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with proven experience implementing or supporting NICE Actimize solutions and building Java-based services and integrations. The role involves working with customer, account, transaction, alert, case, and screening data across KYC, AML, Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions, and Fraud use cases. Cloud and domain experience are mandatory. AI skills are an added advantage for accelerating engineering, analytics, documentation, testing, and investigation-support use cases.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, configure, develop, enhance, and support NICE Actimize solutions and related Financial Crime applications.
  • Build and maintain Java applications, microservices, REST APIs, batch components, and integration services.
  • Develop complex and optimized SQL for data ingestion, transformation, reconciliation, alerting, investigation, and reporting use cases.
  • Integrate Actimize with upstream and downstream systems, including customer, account, transaction, case-management, screening, and reporting platforms.
  • Deploy and support applications and data workloads on Azure, AWS, or GCP using appropriate cloud-native services.
  • Translate compliance requirements into technical designs, rules, scenarios, data mappings, interfaces, and acceptance criteria.
  • Perform performance tuning, defect analysis, root-cause analysis, code reviews, unit testing, release support, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ensure secure coding, auditability, data protection, logging, monitoring, version control, and CI/CD practices.
  • Collaborate with compliance SMEs, solution architects, data engineers, QA teams, infrastructure teams, and client stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior team members and take ownership of assigned modules and delivery outcomes.

Mandatory skills

  • Actimize: Strong hands-on experience with NICE Actimize implementation, configuration, customization, integration, enhancement, or production support. Experience should relate to Financial Crime solutions such as Transaction Monitoring, AML, sanctions screening, fraud, alerting, or case management.
  • Java: Strong hands-on development experience with Core Java, object-oriented programming, collections, exception handling, multithreading fundamentals, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.
  • Advanced SQL: Strong command of complex joins, subqueries, common table expressions, window functions, aggregations, stored procedures, query optimization, reconciliation, and high-volume data analysis.
  • Cloud: Mandatory hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform: Microsoft Azure, AWS, or GCP. Experience must include developing, deploying, integrating, monitoring, or supporting applications and data workloads in a cloud environment.
  • Financial Crime domain: Mandatory delivery experience in one or more of KYC, AML, Transaction Monitoring, Sanctions, or Fraud, with working knowledge of alerts, cases, investigations, rules or scenarios, regulatory controls, and financial crime data.
  • Engineering practices: Git, Maven or Gradle, unit testing, code review, debugging, secure development, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and production support.

Actimize and Financial Crime knowledge

  • Actimize platform: Practical understanding of Actimize solution components, data flows, interfaces, alert generation, case workflows, rule or scenario changes, deployment, and operational support.
  • Transaction Monitoring / AML: Scenario logic, thresholds, segmentation, alert generation, tuning support, false-positive analysis, investigations, and regulatory reporting concepts.
  • KYC / CDD / EDD: Customer onboarding, identity checks, customer risk rating, beneficial ownership, periodic review, remediation, and enhanced due diligence.
  • Sanctions: Customer and payment screening, watchlists, potential-match handling, disposition workflows, and screening data quality.
  • Fraud: Fraud indicators, rules or models, event and transaction analysis, alert triage, investigations, and case outcomes.

AI skills – added advantage

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent for code generation, refactoring, testing, and documentation, with appropriate human review and secure-use practices.
  • Understanding of generative AI and large language model concepts, including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector search, and API-based integration.
  • Exposure to Python-based AI or machine-learning workflows, model evaluation, or analytics for anomaly detection, alert prioritization, investigation support, or false-positive reduction.
  • Ability to identify responsible AI use cases while considering explainability, data privacy, security, model risk, auditability, and regulatory expectations.

Good to have

  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, or enterprise messaging and event-driven architecture.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code and deployment tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
  • Experience with data platforms or processing tools such as Spark, Databricks, or cloud-native data services.
  • Familiarity with observability tools, application performance monitoring, and structured production-support processes.
  • Strong communication, estimation, technical documentation, stakeholder management, and Agile delivery skills.

Experience and education

  • Experience: Strictly 4+ years of relevant professional experience in software engineering, financial crime technology, Actimize delivery, application development, or production engineering.
  • Eligibility: Candidates with less than 4 years of relevant professional experience will not be considered.
  • Mandatory combination: Actimize, Java, SQL, cloud, and Financial Crime Compliance domain experience are all required.
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

What success looks like

  • Reliable Actimize enhancements and integrations delivered with production-quality Java and SQL.
  • Clear understanding of the compliance objective, data lineage, operational controls, and regulatory context behind each solution.
  • Ownership of design, development, testing, deployment, incident resolution, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Practical use of cloud and AI capabilities without compromising security, explainability, auditability, or maintainability.

What working at EY offers

  • You will work on meaningful Financial Crime Technology assignments in an interdisciplinary environment that values quality, practical learning, coaching, collaboration, technical ownership, and knowledge exchange. The role provides opportunities to deepen expertise across Actimize, modern Java engineering, cloud delivery, and responsible AI-enabled solutions.
  • Apply only if you meet the 4+ years requirement and all mandatory skill and domain criteria.
