ELL Aide

An ESL Aide (or English as a Second Language Teacher Assistant) supports certified teachers by providing instruction, language development, and classroom assistance to English Language Learners (ELLs). They work with individuals or small groups to improve speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills, while helping students adapt to the school environment. 

Core Responsibilities:

• Instructional Support: Reinforce lessons in reading, writing, and content areas using ESL strategies directed by the teacher.
• Small Group Tutoring: Work with ELLs individually or in small groups to enhance English proficiency.
• Translation Support: Help translate school communications for parents and students if bilingual.  
• Supervision: Monitor students in the classroom

Qualifications 

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience: Previous experience working with children or in educational settings is highly preferred
• Language Skills: Proficiency in English; bilingual skills.
• Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with students, work in a team, and manage student behavior.
• Must be able to work under general supervision and follow lesson plans developed by the Lead Teacher.
• Must maintain confidentiality of student records.
