About the role:

The Software Development Engineer (SDE) contributes in all areas of development as a member of an Agile Scrum team supporting the Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) and Consent and Preference Management (CPM) products. CIAM provides secure customer registration, authentication, account recovery, multi-factor authentication, passkeys, authorization, token and session management, and identity lifecycle capabilities, using Auth0 as the core identity platform. CPM enables customers to capture, manage, and enforce consent and communication preferences across channels and business applications, using Cassie as the core consent and preference platform. The team builds product-specific capabilities on top of these platforms through .NET APIs and supporting services hosted in Kubernetes. Team members will have areas of strength and some level of specialization but must be adept at learning tools and languages that enable the team member to participate in all areas of product development. Being adaptable and knowledgeable in multiple domains enables the team members to swarm or fill gaps to meet commitments.

In this role you will

  • The SDE II works under limited or no supervisory guidance and consistently delivers on commitments.
  • The SDE II is expected to demonstrate excellence in the software development practices performed by Scrum teams:
  • Developing CIAM and CPM product features, including customer registration and login experiences, account recovery, MFA and passkey flows, identity profile and account lifecycle services, consent capture and withdrawal, preference management, downstream enforcement, web applications, and .NET API services.
  • Building, deploying, and operating the team’s .NET APIs and supporting services in Kubernetes, including containerization, configuration, secrets management, service connectivity, health checks, scaling, resilience, and production support.
  • The SDE II invests in learning and experimentation to strengthen cloud-native implementations and extend Auth0- and Cassie-based product capabilities safely.
  • Using automated pipelines for building, testing, scanning, packaging, and deploying .NET applications, Auth0 and Cassie configuration, containers, and infrastructure changes;  continuously improving both the quality and speed of the pipelines.
  • Contributing to automated unit, integration, API, contract, regression, performance, and security testing across authentication, authorization, token, session, consent, preference, data synchronization, and vendor integration flows
  • Maintaining a production-first mindset focused on security, privacy, scale, uptime, resiliency, observability, and the ability to rapidly triage and resolve CIAM and CPM issues across Auth0, Cassie, .NET APIs, Kubernetes, data stores, and integrations
  • Investing in our Agile practice to continuously improve product quality, time to market, and team member happiness

Knowledge and Skills

  • Software development expertise in C# and .NET, with the ability to design, build, test, and support APIs and services that extend Auth0-based CIAM and Cassie-based CPM capabilities
  • Data and query analysis and optimization to deliver scalable and performant identity, authentication, consent, preference, audit, and integration services
  • Test data management to drive automated, repeatable, and reliable testing while protecting customer identity, authentication, consent, and preference data
  • Proficient in new feature development, automated tests, and implementation of security and privacy controls for authentication, authorization, tokens, sessions, identity data, consent, preferences, APIs, secrets, and service-to-service integrations
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum teams, suggesting and contributing to improvements. Demonstrates software development excellence.
  • Troubleshoots complex problems across C#/.NET application code, Auth0 and Cassie configuration, REST APIs, authentication and consent flows, Kubernetes workloads, cloud infrastructure, databases, network dependencies, and vendor integrations; works across teams to meet commitments
  • Drives adoption of best practices for secure identity engineering, consent and preference management, .NET API design, containerized delivery, Kubernetes operations, observability, and production support; cultivates innovation and learning
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills
