About the role

Position Summary

MAG Aerospace is seeking a hands-on Mechanical / Structural Design Engineer to support aircraft modification and integration work at its Titusville facility, including special-mission / ISR aircraft platforms. The role centers on independently developing mechanical and structural designs in Siemens NX, from conceptual 3D models through production-ready drawings and installation support. Thermal modeling and heat-management experience are valuable complementary capabilities; this is primarily a design position rather than a dedicated thermal or stress-analysis position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develop conceptual and detailed 3D models, parts, and assemblies using Siemens NX CAD.
  • Design aircraft modification hardware, including brackets, mounts, supports, installation structures, and equipment integration assemblies.
  • Create and revise engineering drawings and associated design documentation, including dimensions, GD&T, tolerances, and bills of materials as applicable.
  • Evaluate packaging, fit, interfaces, manufacturability, and installation constraints for aircraft modification and integration.
  • Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, and aircraft integration teams to resolve design issues and support prototype-to-installation execution.
  • Support design changes, drawing release, and configuration-controlled documentation.
  • Consider thermal loads, equipment heat dissipation, and heat-management constraints in mechanical design; coordinate with thermal/analysis specialists when required.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge and Skills

Core Qualifications

  • Demonstrated hands-on Siemens NX CAD experience personally creating and modifying 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Strong mechanical / structural design experience, including brackets, mounts, sheet-metal or machined components, and integration hardware.
  • Ability to take a design from concept through detailed documentation and support for fabrication or installation.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and practical design-for-manufacture considerations.
  • Ability to work on-site in Titusville, Florida.

Preferred Experience

  • Aerospace or aviation design experience, especially aircraft structural modifications and special-mission / ISR integration.
  • Approximately 5+ years of relevant aerospace / mechanical design experience (target profile; confirm minimum with hiring manager).
  • Thermal modeling, simulation, or heat-management exposure using Siemens Simcenter, STAR-CCM+, or comparable tools.
  • Familiarity with Siemens Teamcenter / PLM, configuration control, and drawing release processes.
  • Knowledge of FAA aircraft modification or certification processes, including STC-related engineering.
  • Exposure to structural analysis / FEA and collaboration with analysis engineers.

Important Candidate Screening Distinction

Candidates must have direct Siemens NX design ownership. NX Nastran-only use, FEA-only experience, model viewing, or reviewing drawings without personally producing CAD models and drawings does not meet the central design requirement.

Special Note

The position is contingent upon candidate’s ability to meet physical and medical requirements as needed by the position; including compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local jurisdictional requirements.
