Strategic Projects Lead (Legal)

About the Role

Join an applied AI research team that builds expert-informed data for advanced AI systems. In this role, you will lead legal-focused projects and client relationships, helping turn rigorous professional reasoning into high-quality training data.

What You'll Do

• Work with leading AI research organizations to develop datasets that support advanced AI systems.

• Manage teams of subject matter experts across legal and other professional domains, guiding project execution from planning through delivery.

• Partner with internal teams on AI research initiatives and improve the quality of project outputs.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives as an early team member and support operational projects as needed.

What We're Looking For

• At least 3 years of substantive legal experience in a leading law firm, sophisticated in-house team, government or regulatory body, or legal AI startup.

• A JD or equivalent legal qualification, with experience drafting, negotiating, litigating, or providing legal advice.

• Strong legal reasoning and research skills, with clear judgment about the difference between rigorous analysis and superficial answers.

• Excellent communication and client management skills, plus the initiative to own projects end to end.

• An undergraduate degree from a US, Canadian, or European institution; standout experience may be considered in place of a top-tier university background.

• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with an intensive schedule, including the ability to work 60 or more hours when needed.

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary: $150,000 to $200,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

On-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week, Monday through Friday.
