Qualifications
Your role
You will take responsibility for the delivery and performance of the services within your agreed scope, from their introduction into operation through ongoing support, improvement and eventual replacement or retirement.
Your service scope covers Level 1 SCADA for WTGs and substations, together with assigned Power Plant Control systems and interfaces, including hybrid park controllers and interfaces to WTG Power Plant Controllers. You will take responsibility for their operational support, controlled changes, lifecycle management and continual improvement within agreed ownership boundaries.
This role combines hands-on senior SCADA engineering with functional service leadership and does not include personnel line management. You will personally undertake engineering work while coordinating and prioritising the service team’s activities, monitoring outcomes and making risks, dependencies and resource needs visible. Capability and capacity requirements will be aligned with the Asset Service Area OT O&M Manager, with resources requested from the respective line managers.
You will apply your practical engineering expertise to diagnose faults, restore services and implement controlled technical changes within your agreed scope and authorisation. You will provide technical guidance to colleagues, assess operational risks and challenge proposed solutions, combining hands-on delivery with effective planning and coordination across organisational boundaries.
You will participate in the team’s on-call rotation, personally diagnosing and resolving incidents affecting SCADA and Power Plant Control services outside normal working hours, within your agreed technical scope and authorisation. You will involve other engineers, OEMs and suppliers when specialist support is required, follow agreed escalation arrangements and contribute to root-cause investigations and corrective and preventive actions.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Service scope and support arrangements: Maintaining clear service definitions, ownership boundaries, agreed service levels, support responsibilities and escalation arrangements, aligned with the agreed service mapping, the Asset Service Area OT O&M Manager and customer expectations.
- Service delivery and hands-on engineering: Managing reliable, secure and efficient day-to-day delivery of SCADA and Power Plant Control services, including monitoring, incidents, service requests, problems, changes and lifecycle activities. Personally configuring, testing, commissioning, maintaining and improving assigned systems, controllers and interfaces within approved procedures and authorisations, while balancing engineering assignments with service-leadership responsibilities and agreed priorities.
- Service performance: Monitoring performance against agreed service-level agreements (SLAs), key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational targets. Reporting on service availability, incident response and restoration, recurring issues, risks and improvement actions.
- Incident response and problem management: Personally diagnosing and resolving incidents affecting assigned SCADA systems, Power Plant Control systems and interfaces, while coordinating additional engineers, OEMs, suppliers and support functions as required. Ensuring timely service restoration and clear stakeholder updates, investigating root causes and implementing or assigning corrective and preventive actions, with follow-up to completion.
- Backlog and delivery planning: Managing and prioritising the service team’s backlog, dependencies and delivery plans based on higher-level guidance, operational impact, risk and available capacity. Planning your own engineering assignments alongside service-leadership responsibilities, balancing urgent operational needs with planned maintenance, lifecycle work and improvements, and making capacity trade-offs visible.
- Capability and capacity planning: Identifying the skills and capacity required to deliver agreed services and roadmap commitments, aligning them with the Asset Service Area OT O&M Manager, and requesting resources from the respective line managers and making the consequences of resource gaps visible.
- Lifecycle engineering and controlled change: Executing the agreed service roadmap through hands-on engineering and coordination of upgrades, migrations, patching, configuration changes and lifecycle replacements. Preparing, implementing or reviewing assigned changes, with appropriate risk assessment, testing, rollback arrangements, documentation and operational handover through approved processes.
- Supplier and stakeholder coordination: Coordinating contributions from suppliers, specialists and internal support functions, monitoring delivery against agreed responsibilities and service commitments, and following up on issues. Supporting technical and service-related purchasing or contract discussions with the responsible procurement and contract owners.
- Project requirements and transition to operations: Providing OT operations and maintenance requirements to projects whose deliverables will enter the service team’s scope. Agreeing operational acceptance criteria with the relevant stakeholders and participating in readiness reviews and handovers, checking support coverage, monitoring, documentation, recovery arrangements and unresolved risks.
- Operational documentation and knowledge: Producing and maintaining technical records, configuration information, operational runbooks and troubleshooting guidance for your own engineering work. Ensuring that the service team maintains relevant service and asset records, clear support responsibilities, escalation arrangements and accessible operational knowledge.
- Continual improvement and technical guidance: Using service-performance data and operational experience to identify, prioritise and implement improvements that reduce recurring incidents and strengthen reliability, efficiency and supportability. Standardising repeatable services and work packages, contributing to technical reviews, and supporting colleagues through practical guidance, knowledge sharing and appropriate automation.
- Security, compliance and audit support: Ensuring that applicable cybersecurity, regulatory and operational requirements are incorporated into service delivery and lifecycle planning, in collaboration with the responsible service engineers, cybersecurity and compliance functions. Coordinating relevant evidence and follow-up actions for audits and reviews.
- Risk management and escalation: Maintaining visibility of service risks, dependencies, delivery constraints and outstanding decisions. Escalating issues beyond the service team’s mandate or capacity to the Asset Service Area OT O&M Manager and other responsible stakeholders, with clear recommendations and operational consequences.
