Implementations Project Manager
- Remote
- Full Time
About the role
Unstoppable starts with people. The future of payments is being built today, and at Paymentology, we are looking for people who want to help shape it. We power card issuing for leading banks, fintechs and digital brands across the globe, and as we continue to grow, we are looking for curious, ambitious people who thrive on solving complex challenges, embrace innovation and want to make a tangible impact at global scale.
We're looking for an Implementations Project Manager to lead client projects from internal handover through onboarding and go-live. You’ll be the main coordination point for clients, internal teams, vendors, and card schemes—setting clear expectations, managing scope and timelines, and keeping risks and dependencies visible.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role in a fast-paced payments environment. You’ll work across new client launches and additional products or phases for existing clients, partnering closely with Technical Implementation Managers, who lead technical setup, integration, and certification activities.
You’ll join a supportive team that offers practical onboarding while giving you the opportunity to take ownership and grow your expertise in issuing and payments.
What you get to do
Project planning and delivery
Lead projects from internal handover through client onboarding and go-live.
Run client kick-off meetings, explain implementation phases, and agree objectives, scope, timelines, dependencies, and next steps.
Build and maintain project plans so actions, owners, and milestones are clear.
Coordinate a portfolio of new client implementations and additional phases or changes for existing clients.
Keep delivery moving as priorities and project needs change.
Client and stakeholder management
Manage day-to-day communication between clients, internal teams, vendors, and card schemes.
Set clear expectations and keep discussions focused on agreed scope, actions, and timelines.
Build effective relationships with client stakeholders, including senior contacts.
Follow up on actions and raise concerns constructively when progress is at risk.
Cross-functional coordination
Coordinate with Sales and Engagement teams to support a smooth handover into Implementation.
Partner with Technical Implementation Managers, Infrastructure, Support, and other internal teams.
Ensure required tickets, scheme projects, and internal actions are started and followed up.
Work with Technical Implementation Managers, who lead product setup, integration questions, certification, and API walkthroughs.
Risk, issue, and dependency management
Identify and track project risks, issues, actions, and dependencies using a RAID log.
Review risks and client actions regularly so owners and next steps are clear.
Escalate blockers early and find the support needed to mitigate delays.
Coordinate with relevant teams and schemes to keep dependencies moving.
Documentation and reporting
Ensure Product Specification Forms are complete and aligned with implementation requirements.
Maintain handover checklists, configuration documents, client metrics, and other project records.
Provide clear updates on progress, risks, and decisions to clients and internal stakeholders.
Help make new or evolving implementation approaches repeatable and well documented.
What it takes to succeed
A strong track record managing projects, ideally in card payments, issuing, or payment processing.
A good understanding of card issuing and the payments ecosystem; experience with Visa or Mastercard is a plus.
Confidence working with clients and keeping expectations, scope, and next steps clear.
The organisation to manage several projects, priorities, risks, and dependencies at once.
An ability to work well with technical teams and understand how systems and environments connect. A software development or infrastructure engineering background isn’t required.
Clear communication, early escalation of issues, and adaptability when priorities shift.
Curiosity about payments and motivation to build expertise in a specialist environment.
Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Jira, or Asana is useful. Experience with card bureau vendors or domestic switch schemes is valuable. EMP or PINS 2 certification is welcome, but not required.
