About this role:

YQN is seeking a Director of Inbound Logistics to lead our port-to-warehouse operations, based in Fontana, CA. This role owns the full inbound flow from port arrival to our U.S. warehouses — container pickup, drayage, customs clearance coordination, delivery order processing, and transloading/cross-docking — bringing drayage and import operations together under one leader.

The ideal candidate has a hands-on background running transload or cross-dock operations and managing drayage and customs vendors, with the ability to drive both daily execution and cost/service improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead port-to-warehouse operations, including container pickup, drayage, transloading, cross-docking, and delivery to YQN warehouses.
  • Manage outsourced drayage carriers and customs brokers on cost, capacity, on-time performance, and warehouse appointment accuracy.
  • Oversee customs clearance coordination, delivery order processing, demurrage/detention control, chassis usage, and container returns.
  • Plan inbound capacity with warehouse operations to align container arrivals, appointments, and unloading schedules.
  • Develop and negotiate with drayage, transload, and customs brokerage partners; build a reliable vendor network across major U.S. ports.
  • Establish SOPs, KPIs, cost-control mechanisms, and exception-management processes for the inbound flow.
  • Handle major exceptions, including port congestion, customs holds and exams, missed appointments, and capacity shortages.
  • Coordinate with origin/booking teams on ocean and air shipments heading into U.S. ports.
  • Build, lead, and develop the inbound logistics team and support the company’s nationwide warehouse expansion.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, including at least 3 years directly managing transload or cross-dock operations (required).
  • 3+ years of people management experience required.
  • Hands-on experience with drayage, port operations (Los Angeles/Long Beach preferred), and customs clearance coordination.
  • Strong drayage carrier and customs broker management experience, including rate negotiation and performance management.
  • Working knowledge of demurrage/detention, chassis, terminal appointments, and import documentation (ISF, delivery orders, customs entries).
  • Strong cost analysis, problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Professional proficiency in Mandarin Chinese strongly preferred.

Preferred Background:

Candidates who have led operations at transload/cross-dock facilities, drayage companies, or port-to-warehouse divisions of overseas warehouse or cross-border e-commerce logistics providers are strongly preferred. Freight sales or booking-only backgrounds are not a fit for this role.

Work Location: On-site in Fontana, California.

Pay: $130,000 – $180,000 per year, based on experience.

Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, 401(K), PTO
