Job Title

Senior Network Software Engineering Specialist

Job Summary

The Opportunity

Most network engineers get to work on the network or on the software, rarely both. This role gives you both.

You'll work on live 5G RAN and O-RAN, using cloud-native engineering, DevOps and AI to make the network smarter and more automated. You'll see your work make a real difference to how the network performs for customers.

You'll also have a say in where the technology goes next. That means shaping roadmaps, choosing between vendor solutions and recommending where we invest. You'll learn across networks, cloud and AI, and you'll help grow the engineering community around you.

Job Description

What You'll Do

  • Design, build and integrate network and software platforms, turning customer and business needs into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Automate and improve the 5G RAN (PCI, ANR, mobility, coverage and capacity) using analytics, AI/ML and automation, working towards autonomous network use cases.
  • Onboard, deploy and manage rApps and O-RAN service management and orchestration, using DevOps and cloud-native practices.
  • Assess vendor solutions, guide vendors through delivery, and shape technology roadmaps and investment recommendations.
  • Track down the root cause of problems in complex distributed systems, and share what you learn by mentoring other engineers.

About You

  • You know telco and RAN well, including 5G RAN optimisation, O-RAN orchestration and KPI analytics. Experience with OSS tools like ENM, SHM or OSS-RC is helpful but not essential.
  • You've worked hands-on with cloud-native engineering, such as Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, microservices, REST APIs, GitLab CI/CD and Linux.
  • You can code and work with data, for example in Python or Java, and with tools like Kafka, PostgreSQL or MinIO/S3 and large-scale telemetry.
  • You've applied AI/ML to network optimisation or automation. Exposure to GenAI, LLMs, RAG or AI agents is a bonus.
  • You explain complex ideas clearly to engineers, vendors and senior stakeholders, and you enjoy helping others grow.

Does this sound like you, even partly?

You don't need to tick every box. If you're a RAN engineer moving into software, a software or cloud engineer curious about telco, or someone with strong AI and automation skills, we'd like to hear from you. Tell us about your experience and what you're keen to learn.

We hire for how you work as well as what you know. That means looking beyond the immediate problem, working as one with others, and making a difference.
