About Our Family

We're a busy family of six with four school-age children and a lovable 120-pound, 7-year old Labrador. We co-own and operate a growing business with two locations and employees to manage, which can mean long hours with evenings and weekends often spent catching up. We care deeply about our home and family, and we've built systems and routines that keep things running — but we've reached the point where we simply can't do it all ourselves.

Our home is intentional. We love hosting friends, we ski as a family, we spend time on the lake, and we've just completed a major remodel that added significant space and storage. Between family appointments, the kids’ activities, managing a growing business, and keeping a busy home running, our days have many moving pieces that require thoughtful coordination. We’re not looking for someone to just check boxes — we’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about the home and family they’re working for, and who takes pride in running things well.

We're warm, friendly, and communicative. We like to laugh, we appreciate someone who can hold a real conversation, and we value professionalism and healthy boundaries. We approach this as a true working relationship built on trust and mutual respect.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You’re proactive and self-motivated, with strong common sense and a sharp eye for the small details that keep a busy household running smoothly (for example, tossing expired yogurt without needing to ask). Especially at the beginning, you come with ideas, suggestions, and practical solutions, and you’re comfortable checking in to make sure everyone feels aligned and on the same page—within reason.

You don’t need to be directed at every step; you’ll figure things out and follow through. You’re willing to roll up your sleeves, take ownership, and jump in wherever needed, without a “not my job” mindset. You’re also warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with, and you prefer an open, collaborative working relationship.

You genuinely enjoy kids and feel comfortable supporting their routines. You have experience driving children, and understand that reliable, safe transportation is a key piece of keeping their daily rhythms smooth.

Overall, you think ahead and notice the little things so the family can spend less time managing the moving pieces of the home and more time enjoying quality time together.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain and evolve the household's existing organizational systems throughout the home, including newly added space from a recent remodel
  • Perform daily resets throughout the home, ensuring all common areas (bathrooms, mudroom, main living spaces) are tidy and orderly: load and unload the dishwasher, wipe down surfaces, pick up clutter, empty trash, maintain robot vacuums, etc
  • Manage seasonal clothing transitions for all children, including intake of hand-me-downs from friends, organization of labeled bins, and coordination of donation drop-offs
  • Swap seasonal items in and out of storage (e.g. school uniforms and winter gear)
  • Care for indoor plants throughout the home
  • Proactive replace and maintain stock of batteries, light bulbs, supplies, etc. throughout the home
  • Support with packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Assist with event and guest prep for occasional gatherings hosted at the home
  • Keep the family vehicle clean, fueled, and organized

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, fold, and put away laundry for all six family members, including school uniforms
  • Wash and rotate bedding and towels
  • Maintain a well-stocked and organized laundry area
  • Wash dog bedding every other week in coordination with grooming days

Meal Support

  • Plan and prepare approximately three dinners per week — ranging from ingredient prep to full meal execution
  • Maintain staples for daily breakfast and batch prep breakfast items (muffins, etc.)
  • Prepare a daily school lunch for the youngest child
  • Process and prep produce (wash, chop, store) for accessible snacking
  • Manage grocery shopping (mix of in-person and online)
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen

Inventory & Errands

  • Maintain a shared household supply list and restock pantry, fridge, and household essentials
  • Manage Amazon subscriptions and household orders
  • Handle mail and packages: sort, open, organize, and break down boxes
  • Run miscellaneous errands including returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, and occasional gift shopping as requested

Family Support

  • Provide safe and reliable transportation for children: school pickups, activity drop offs, and various appointments throughout the week
  • Supervise and provide age-appropriate engaging care for children after school and during school closures; level of childcare may flex during summer months depending on camp schedules
  • Prepare snacks and gear for after-school activities
  • Oversee and reinforce children's routines in the mudroom and other household chores, guiding kids to manage their own spaces rather than doing it for them
  • Opportunities for very occasional travel with the family may be presented, pending candidate availability and interest

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Perform periodic deep cleaning tasks including fridge, oven, baseboards, and shower areas on a regular cadence and delegate to cleaning team as needed
  • Swap out air purifier filters and replace furniture filters monthly
  • Maintenance and care of robot vacuums
  • Develop and implement organizational systems throughout the home as the household continues to evolve post-remodel

Pet Care

  • Maintain automatic feeder and water
  • Walk or accompany the dog (pending comfort level; dog is typically off-leash on property)
  • Coordinate biweekly grooming appointments and transport and manage vet appointments as needed
  • Maintain pet supplies

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as the on-site point of contact for vendors, contractors, and service providers; meet them at the home and be available as needed
  • Manage delegation to the current cleaning crew and/or assist with onboarding a new crew; hold the cleaning service accountable to household standards
  • Sweep and clear outdoor deck and patio areas using a light electric leaf blower
  • Manage seasonal put-away/take out of outdoor and lake items at the close/opening of the season

Administrative Support

  • Maintain awareness of the household's shared calendar (Skylight); add events as needed and proactively remind parents of upcoming appointments, school events, and activities
  • Track receipts and spending for household expenses on designated cards
