About the role

We are seeking a Group Tax Manager to own the Group’s tax function. This is a key appointment, reporting to the Financial Controller, with responsibility for:

  • Corporate income tax: compliance, planning and tax effect accounting across all Group entities, including management of external advisers
  • Indirect and employment taxes: GST, FBT, payroll tax, and overseas indirect tax obligations such as US sales tax
  • R&D tax incentive: claim preparation, substantiation and review readiness, covering both the tax and accounting implications
  • International tax and transfer pricing: intercompany arrangements, royalty withholding tax, treaty relief, and documentation to support the Group’s global footprint
  • Governance and risk: the tax risk framework and reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee and auditors, including escalating material uncertainties

Please note: this is a part-time role of 4 days per week

What you'll be working on

  • Own income tax, R&D tax and instalment obligations across our global entities in Australia, the UK, Hong Kong, Belgium, China and the USA (Federal and State).
  • Play a key role in month-end and year-end close, reviewing income tax and indirect tax journals and reconciliations.
  • Prepare half-yearly tax effect accounting calculations.
  • Manage indirect tax compliance end-to-end (review, lodgement and payment) across GST, VAT, US sales tax and FBT, plus Washington State taxes, the Oregon Commercial Activity Tax and US Form 1099 filings.
  • Lead our transfer pricing program, including documentation, benchmarking studies, hybrid mismatch analysis and the International Dealings Schedule, working alongside external consultants.
  • Review monthly transfer pricing calculations and manage the related intercompany invoicing.
  • Provide advice on permanent establishment, tax residency, withholding tax, continuity of ownership and employee share trust matters.
  • Partner with our global tax advisers, joining quarterly update meetings and helping Audinate stay ahead of risks from legislative change and business growth.
  • Keep our tax process documentation, key tax positions and tax risk register current and reliable.
  • Work with our business systems team to find and implement improvements that make tax processes more accurate and efficient.
  • What we're looking for

    • A CA, CPA or CTA qualification, or an equivalent professional qualification.
    • 7+ years of tax experience, gained in a Big 4 firm, a mid-tier firm or a complex corporate environment.
    • Strong commercial expertise in the Australian tax system.
    • Hands-on experience preparing income tax and sales tax returns.
    • Advanced Excel skills.
    • A sharp eye for detail, paired with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • A genuine interest in systems and process improvement, and in finding smarter ways to work.
    • A self-motivated, can-do approach, with the resilience to thrive in a collaborative team.
    • The ability to manage a part-time workload around fixed reporting and lodgement deadlines.
    • Experience with global tax regimes such as the UK, US or China is desirable
