About the role

If you’re looking for a career that will help you stand out, join HSBC, and fulfil your potential - whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or an exciting new direction, we offer opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

We’re one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and, ultimately, helping people fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We’re currently seeking an experienced individual to join our team in the role of Relationship Support Analyst.

The Relationship Support Analyst role assists Relationship Directors in building relationships by identifying and meeting existing and prospective customer needs. This role is responsible for identifying product and service opportunities, carrying out customer research, financial and credit analysis and helping the RD prepare for customer meetings. Other fundamental parts of the role include co-ordination of credit applications or renewals and risk escalation management. In the absence of the RD, the role holder will act as the focal point for the client relationships, products and services.

HSBC Corporate Banking in the UK provides both domestic and international commercial banking services to our existing and prospective clients. Clients will typically have turnover of £25m to £350m.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you’ll have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package. This includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay and support when you return to work, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

In this role you’ll:

  • Provide support to the Relationship Directors to enable them to optimise the potential value of client relationships, improve client engagement and deliver needs-based solutions and fair outcomes for customers
  • Enable proactive client management by attending client meetings as necessary and acting as the first point of contact for customers on daily credit-related enquiries
  • Undertake and prepare appropriate financial, credit and profitability analysis and prepare the account remarks and creating proposals and presentations
  • Support on day-to-day activities including client planning, pipeline management, co-ordination with product partners and ensuring data and call reports are accurately and timely updated
  • Support with third party liaison, including discussions with external lawyers and valuers, collaborating with Group colleagues to deliver appropriate needs-based solutions for customers
  • Monitor credit risk, including concern lists and credit control reports, and analyse management information

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Experience working in a relevant client facing role within Commercial Banking would be advantageous
  • A track record of gaining an understanding of customers' needs and delivering excellent customer service is essential
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience of adapting your style and approach is essential
  • Experience of organising and prioritising your own workload and time effectively and adhering to strict deadlines is essential
  • The ability to understand and interpret financial data and undertake credit analysis is preferred
  • A solid understanding of the regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements associated with financial services and experience of working within these

This is a hybrid position, with the base location being St Albans.  Clients are based across the south east and there is an expectation of the working week consisting of home and the office-based working, along with visiting clients on occasion.  It is therefore important that you are willing to travel as required.
