Content and Graphic Design Specialist
About the role
Who are we?
At Vertiv, we’re on a mission to empower the people that will power the future. From a simple swipe to life-changing medicines, from push notifications to generative AI. We design, manufacture, and service the products and solutions that keep the world connected. With $6.9 billion in sales, a strong customer base and global reach spanning nearly 70 countries, we are uniquely positioned to deliver greater value to our customers and create new opportunities for our people.
We are now looking for a Content and Graphic Design Specialist to join our team in Cluj-Napoca, Romania!
The Content and Graphic Design Specialist will report to the EMEA Process Improvement Manager within the Technology Application Engineering and Market Development function. The role is responsible for building and maintaining the 3D visualisation capability that supports Vertiv’s product configurators, as part of the migration from Configure One to Tacton CPQ.
The primary focus of the position is the preparation of CAD data and the creation of production-ready 3D assets for interactive product visualisation inside Tacton CPQ. This covers the full asset pipeline: importing and cleaning engineering CAD, tessellation and geometry optimisation, materials and appearance definition, and publishing assets through Tacton VizStudio.
The remaining portion of the role is dedicated to product configurator development in Tacton CPQ, working alongside the wider CPQ team on product models, option structures and testing. The successful candidate will work in close cooperation with Vertiv engineering, product management and the Tacton visualisation team, and is expected to become the internal owner of the visualisation production pipeline.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
3D asset production and CAD data preparation (primary focus)
- Prepare engineering CAD data for visualisation use: import, repair, simplify and tessellate geometry from STEP and native formats (PTC Creo, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) into polygon models suitable for real-time rendering.
- Create, texture and maintain 3D assets for Vertiv products using a DCC application (Autodesk 3ds Max as the reference toolchain; Blender as an alternative).
- Apply colours, surfaces and materials in line with documented appearance specifications sourced from PDM/ERP, ensuring visual consistency across the product portfolio.
- Author, configure and publish visualisation assets through Tacton VizStudio, ensuring they are correctly structured for the configuration logic that drives them.
- Optimise assets for web delivery — polygon budgets, level of detail, texture resolution and load performance across browsers and devices.
- Deliver visual output consistent with Vertiv’s existing 3D content quality standards.
Pipeline ownership and data readiness
- Establish, document and maintain the internal visualisation production pipeline, including naming conventions, folder and asset library structures, version control and quality checkpoints.
- Maintain and extend the CAD coverage assessment: which products have 3D models, in which formats and at what quality level.
- Work with product management and engineering to define and maintain option-to-geometry mapping — identifying, for each configuration option, whether and how it changes what the customer sees.
- Contribute to the definition of appearance specifications and drive their capture in systems (PDM/ERP) rather than in individual knowledge.
- Adopt and help evaluate tool-assisted and AI-assisted data preparation capabilities as these become available from Tacton, transitioning parts of the manual pipeline where appropriate.
Collaboration and knowledge transfer
- Work alongside Tacton’s visualisation team during Wave 1 of the implementation under a structured shadowing model, with the objective of becoming self-sufficient on Vertiv products by the end of the first implementation.
- Act as the interface between engineering CAD/PLM owners and the CPQ team on all visualisation data topics.
- Coordinate with other Vertiv teams working with 3D content (AR/XR application team, VSD tooling) to reuse existing assets and expertise where possible.
- Transfer knowledge to colleagues and document workflows so that the capability is not dependent on a single individual.
CPQ configurator contribution (secondary focus)
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of product models, configuration rules and option tables within Tacton CPQ.
- Participate in testing, validation and release of configurator updates, particularly where visualisation and configuration logic interact.
- Support day-to-day maintenance activities, including periodic updates to released product models.
- Track assigned tasks, deliverables, risks and issues, and report progress to management when required.
School Background & Basic Qualifications
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Computer Graphics, Multimedia, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field — or equivalent professional experience supported by a portfolio.
- A portfolio of 3D work is required as part of the application (product visualisation or technical/industrial subjects preferred).
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- Experience working in an international environment is considered an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Demonstrated experience in 3D asset creation for real-time or product visualisation purposes.
- Proficiency in a DCC application — Autodesk 3ds Max strongly preferred; Blender, Maya or equivalent considered.
- Practical experience converting engineering CAD into visualisation-ready geometry: tessellation, polygon reduction, retopology and geometry repair.
- Familiarity with engineering CAD formats and tools — STEP as the working exchange format; exposure to PTC Creo, SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor is highly desirable.
- Experience with PDM/PLM environments (PTC Windchill preferred) is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of materials and shading (PBR workflows), UV mapping, texturing and lighting for real-time engines.
- Awareness of performance constraints in web-based 3D delivery (polygon budgets, LOD, draw calls, asset compression).
- Knowledge of Tacton VizStudio and Tacton’s visualisation runtime is ideal; structured training and vendor-led shadowing will be provided.
- Basic scripting ability (JavaScript preferred) sufficient to understand and troubleshoot the logic that drives 3D assets.
- Exposure to CPQ platforms (Tacton CPQ, Configure One, Oracle CPQ or similar) and to configuration/product data structures (BOM, variants, constraints) is preferred.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git) is a plus.
- Experience with WebGL, Unity, Unreal, AR/VR or Sketchfab-style publishing is a plus.
- Good practical use of the Microsoft Office 365 suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
Soft Skills
- Genuine interest in owning the visualisation topic — the role is intended to build a new internal capability, not to execute a fixed brief.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard for visual quality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to work with engineering, product management, marketing and sales stakeholders.
- Strong process discipline and documentation capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously, adapt to changing priorities and manage parallel workstreams.
- Willingness to expand knowledge beyond the immediate area of expertise, including into configuration logic and CPQ development.
Travel Expectation
- Travel within EMEA may be required to support project activities, scoping workshops and on-site collaboration with the Tacton visualisation team (estimated up to 15%).
