Electrical Testing Technician Trainee
Location: On-site, Gavle
Let's be honest: not every electrician wants to spend their entire career pulling cable.
Some want to understand what's behind the installation.
Some want to be the person signing off that the system actually works.
That's where you come in.
We're Kirby. We deliver large, technically complex projects across Europe. Right now, we're looking for qualified electricians who are ready to take the next step in their careers and develop into Electrical Testing Technicians through our structured Testing & Energy Marshalling development programme. Based on Kirby's Stage 2 development pathway, successful candidates receive formal training, mentorship, and industry-recognised qualifications to transition from electrician to tester.
If you're curious about how electrical systems operate, enjoy solving problems, and want to build a career beyond installation work, keep reading.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
You'll begin as a qualified electrician and follow a structured development pathway designed to help you become an Electrical Testing Technician.
Working alongside experienced testing and commissioning professionals, you'll gain hands-on experience of how electrical systems are inspected, tested, energised, and handed over on some of Europe's most complex projects. Through a combination of on-the-job learning, mentoring, and formal training, you'll develop the technical knowledge and practical skills needed to move beyond installation work and into a specialist testing role.
As you progress, you'll learn how to carry out testing activities, interpret results, identify faults, and verify that systems are safe, compliant, and ready for operation. You'll also complete industry-recognised training and competency assessments, giving you a clear pathway into a career in testing, commissioning, and future specialist electrical roles.
If you're an electrician who's looking for the next challenge and wants to invest in a long-term career, this is your opportunity to make that move with the support of a structured development programme.
What We're Looking For
- A qualified electrician with a recognised electrical trade qualification.
- A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
- An interest in testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and system verification.
- Someone who wants to develop a long-term career pathway beyond electrical installation.
- The ability to work independently while also learning from experienced mentors.
- A willingness to undertake both internal and external training programmes
What's In It For You?
Most companies hire experienced testers.
We're investing in creating them.
Through Kirby's structured Testing & Energy Marshalling development programme, you'll receive:
- A clear and defined career pathway from Electrician to Testing Technician and beyond.
- Industry-recognised Inspection, Testing & Verification training funded by Kirby.
- Hands-on mentoring from experienced Testing Technicians and commissioning professionals.
- Exposure to some of Europe's largest and most complex data centre, life sciences, and industrial projects.
- The opportunity to progress further into Authorised Person (AP) and Senior Authorised Person (SAP) roles through Kirby's structured development framework.
- A career, not just a job.
Not everyone wants to stay where they started. Are you an electrician who wants to become a specialist, we'd like to hear from you.
