About the role

Join the Wingtra team and become part of this venture-backed robotics scaleup with a global and international team of 125+ dedicated Wingtranauts who want to see their actions have a positive and lasting impact on the world. Founded more than 8 years ago at ETH Zurich, Europe’s leading robotics university, our goal is to build the best aerial robots to digitize the world at the push of a button and set the basis for faster and better decisions. Wingtra provides efficient and reliable data solutions to a variety of industries ranging from mining, construction and agriculture to humanitarian organizations, environmentalists and wildlife monitoring groups.

We are reaching for the stars and together we might just get there. Open communication, asking hard questions and valuing diverse viewpoints are but a few things that will help us achieve our goals. Above all we will never stop learning and striving to help each other reach our maximum potential.

When a drone fails a test on our production floor, you’re the first person we call. As Production Quality Control Specialist, you’re the first line of technical support in production. You troubleshoot, diagnose and fix failures across our VTOL drones, their sub-systems, sensors and in-process quality tests. That way every aircraft we ship meets the standard our customers rely on in the field.

You also step back from single failures and look at the data. You analyze yields and quarantine trends, find the root causes behind recurring problems and help decide which corrective actions to tackle first. You’ll work closely with Production, Engineering and Supply Chain, and your work directly shapes product quality and output.

Responsibilities

  • First call when production hits a snag. You’re the first-line technical support for test failures, assembly defects and nonconforming units, so the line keeps moving.

  • Fix what’s broken. You troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic and system-level failures on drones, sub-assemblies, payloads and sensors.

  • Own incoming inspection and in-process tests. You run them, read the results and make them better over time.

  • Decide what happens to quarantined material. Rework, repair, scrap or return to supplier: the call is yours.

  • Get to the real root cause. You lead root cause analyses (5 Whys, Ishikawa, 8D) on recurring and high-impact failures.

  • Find the biggest quality drivers. You analyze yields and quarantine Paretos to see where effort pays off most.

  • Close the loop. You turn findings into prioritized corrective actions (CAPA) and follow them through until closed.

  • Keep failure, test and repair records traceable.

  • Share what you learn. You feed findings back to Engineering and suppliers and train assembly staff on failure modes and workmanship.

  • Requirements

  • You’ve spent 4+ years as a quality technician, quality inspector or assembly technician on a complex mechatronic product.

  • You see how mechanics, electronics, sensors and firmware work together, and you can trace a failure across them.

  • You’re comfortable with data. You can build yield and failure Paretos and draw sound conclusions.

  • You’re methodical and document your work well. You keep sound judgment when production is under pressure.

  • You have a technical apprenticeship or diploma in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechatronics or similar, or the equivalent hands-on experience.

  • You speak fluent English and like working side by side with people on the shop floor. German is an advantage.

  • Plus

  • Experience with UAVs, RC aircraft or avionics

  • Familiarity with batteries, GNSS, IMUs, cameras or LiDAR

  • SPC, Cp/Cpk, MSA or a Six Sigma Green Belt

  • Python, SQL, BI or AI tools for data analysis

  • Experience with non-conformance tracking, quality management systems or manufacturing ERP/PLM software

  • Familiarity with inspection tools and measurement equipment, and reading technical drawings (eCAD/mCAD)

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methods such as 5S

  • If you enjoy teamwork more than being the individual superhero, and if you thrive in a feedback-driven culture and an exciting, unconventional yet structured and progressive start-up environment, we would love to hear from you.
