If you are a motivated team player who takes pride in producing high-quality work and is looking to grow your engineering career, OPEX Corporation may be the right opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to execute mechanical design tasks while considering cost, manufacturability, fabrication methods, ease of assembly, serviceability, reliability, and long-term equipment performance to ensure practical, efficient, and robust design solutions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design deliverables and requirements established by Mechanical Engineers, including part and assembly models, engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), design revisions, and documentation required for production release.
  • Willingness to take ownership of assigned tasks from concept through design completion, prototype build, testing, design revision, and production release.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage workload and schedules while collaborating closely with Mechanical Engineers to establish priorities, coordinate tasks, and consistently meet project milestones and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate clear, concise, accurate, and timely project updates to Mechanical Engineers, Managers, and Project Coordinators, as appropriate, to maintain alignment on progress, priorities, and project requirements.
  • Willingness to seek out information when needed, including working directly with engineers, technicians, machinists, assemblers, production personnel, and other departments to gather the information required to complete the task.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams, proactively seek input and feedback, build consensus on design solutions, and align efforts to achieve project objectives and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and support design reviews with adequate preparation, including understanding the goal of the review, presenting design intent clearly, documenting feedback, and identifying next actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to properly dimension mechanical parts using consistent dimensioning practices while considering cost, manufacturability, inspection requirements, ease of assembly, and long-term serviceability
  • Ability and willingness to perform hands-on design validation, including installing parts, checking fit and alignment, testing form, fit, and function, identifying design issues, and making necessary design improvements before informing the Mechanical Engineer of completion.
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on with prototype and production equipment, supporting machine builds, mechanical assembly, equipment adjustments, troubleshooting, and design validation to ensure proper functionality and performance.
  • Ability and willingness to fabricate, modify, rework, and support the development of prototype components, brackets, guards, fixtures, test stands, and other mechanical parts as needed to build, test, and validate designs.
  • Ability to use basic shop tools, hand tools, measuring tools, and fabrication equipment as appropriate for the role, while following all applicable safety procedures.
  • Ability to evaluate parts and assemblies in the physical machine environment, not solely in CAD, to confirm that designs are practical, buildable, serviceable, and robust.
  • Prepare and maintain BOMs, assembly drawings, part drawings, and related documentation prior to production release.
  • Ability to work with other departments during product development, prototype testing, production ramp-up, and field-support activities.
