About the role
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Staff Technical Marketing Analyst based in the United States.
The Sr. Staff Technical Marketing Analyst brings deep hard disk drive (HDD) technology and manufacturing expertise to support strategic business decisions across product development, pricing, marketing, and competitive analysis. This role combines technical modeling, cost analysis, and systems-level understanding to translate complex engineering and manufacturing considerations into actionable business insights. You will develop quantitative models, assess competitive positioning, and evaluate the cost and performance implications of technology choices. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, operations, finance, sourcing, and commercial teams, you will influence product roadmaps, investment decisions, and customer strategies. This remote opportunity is suited to an analytical expert who can navigate ambiguity, communicate complex trade-offs clearly, and provide trusted, data-driven recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Develop and maintain quantitative models based on HDD architecture, physics, component behavior, and system-level interactions.
-
Ensure models account for cost estimates, sourcing considerations, engineering constraints, manufacturing processes, and production flows from component sourcing through final assembly and shipment.
-
Build forecasts incorporating baseline expectations, sensitivity analysis, and scenarios grounded in market conditions, customer needs, product designs, and factory assumptions.
-
Evaluate how technology decisions affect manufacturing throughput, scrap rates, production bottlenecks, test coverage, and long-term cost efficiency.
-
Build detailed, bottom-up HDD cost models covering mechanical, magnetic, electronic, and production components.
-
Coordinate competitive cost teardowns, maintain competitive cost analysis models, and conduct scenario-based evaluations.

-
Extensive experience in technical modeling, systems analysis, technology strategy, or a related field.
-
Deep understanding of HDD architecture, underlying physics, component functions, and manufacturing processes.
-
Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, including experience developing, maintaining, and improving structured models.
-
Thorough understanding of the competitive HDD marketplace and the ability to translate technical knowledge into competitive cost, value, and market assessments.
-
Experience working directly with storage technologies, hardware platforms, infrastructure systems, or large-scale technology deployments.
-
Familiarity with total cost of ownership analysis for storage systems and markets.
-
Demonstrated ability to perform competitive cost analysis, develop scenarios, and evaluate technology and manufacturing trade-offs.
-
Ability to work effectively with ambiguous requirements, incomplete data, and complex technical challenges.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings to senior stakeholders and external customers.
-
Proven ability to collaborate with and influence cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, sourcing, marketing, finance, and sales.
