Join a collaborative healthcare technology team dedicated to improving patient care through efficient clinical information systems and streamlined digital workflows. In this fully remote role, you will focus on simplified referral coordination within the Epic Ambulatory environment, supporting referral processes across Care Everywhere and EpicCare Link. You will help ensure referrals are accurately routed, successfully transmitted, and received throughout the care continuum. Working closely with clinicians, physicians, and technical teams, you will analyze workflows, configure systems, and implement solutions that improve operational efficiency. You will also contribute to application testing, troubleshooting, system enhancements, and end-user training. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your Epic expertise while making a meaningful impact on healthcare delivery.

Accountabilities

  • Epic system configuration and optimization: Design, build, configure, maintain, and enhance assigned Epic modules and associated third-party applications, with a particular focus on referral coordination and ambulatory workflows.

  • Referral workflow management: Support end-to-end referral processes across Care Everywhere and EpicCare Link, ensuring referrals are successfully sent, received, routed, and processed between referring and receiving organizations.

  • Workflow analysis and improvement: Collaborate with clinicians, physicians, and end users to document existing workflows, identify gaps, analyze business problems, and develop future-state solutions aligned with clinical and operational objectives.

  • Testing and quality assurance: Develop test scripts and testing materials, conduct unit, system, integration, and end-to-end workflow testing, and document results to validate system functionality and data integrity.

  • Technical troubleshooting and support: Investigate application issues and system deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, escalate complex problems appropriately, and provide ongoing support to end users in a 24/7 production environment, including on-call responsibilities.

  • Implementation and release management: Support system implementations, upgrades, and software releases while following configuration control, quality assurance, documentation, and version management standards.

  • Training and stakeholder communication: Develop and deliver training materials, explain technical concepts to nontechnical audiences, and communicate effectively with hospital leadership, clinicians, physicians, and ancillary departments.

  • Project coordination and collaboration: Participate in cross-functional projects, team meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives, providing progress updates, identifying barriers, and helping implement best practices in clinical documentation and workflow management.

  • Continuous improvement: Stay informed about Epic specifications, application updates, industry trends, and product developments to maintain system performance and support evolving clinical needs.

  • Requirements

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Coursework or education in business, information systems, healthcare, or a related field is beneficial.

    • Experience: At least one year of experience communicating complex technical concepts to nontechnical audiences is required. Experience with electronic medical record applications, system implementations, or a clinical or technical role is preferred.

    • Technical skills: Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and strong computer skills, including troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and critical problem-solving.

    • Clinical workflow knowledge: Strong understanding of clinical workflows is required. Familiarity with how hospital departments interact and how processes move between teams is an advantage.

    • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical professionals, technical teams, leadership, and other stakeholders.

    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities: A creative, solutions-oriented approach to identifying system issues, evaluating workflows, and recommending practical improvements.
