Part-Time Lecturer for AP6421 AI Driven Computer Graphics and Visualisation
The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-time Lecturer for AP6403 Games for Society. The Part-time Lecturer is expected to teach a Postgraduate course commencing in January 2027.
AP6421 AI Driven Computer Graphics and Visualisation
In light of the new MSc in Game Design, Art and Technology curriculum, this course AP6421 will serve as one of the GDAT elective course offerings. The course places particular emphasis on the role of automation and artificial intelligence in contemporary digital game development. Students will explore procedural generation techniques for automatically creating environments, terrains, game assets, and behaviours from algorithms and datasets, helping to reduce manual workload and accelerate production processes. They will also investigate AI-driven approaches to gameplay and content generation, including adaptive systems, intelligent NPCs, and dynamic level designs that respond to player behaviour. In addition, students will explore the integration and visualisation of live data in real time using a contemporary game engine, and develop workflows for automating content creation, generating synthetic renderings, and designing immersive and interactive visualisations. These approaches may be extended beyond conventional game development to areas such as urban planning, scientific simulation, interactive storytelling, and data-informed digital art.
Applicants should have expertise in contemporary game design and development workflows, particularly automation, procedural generation, artificial intelligence, and real-time game-engine technologies. They should be able to teach core game-design concepts including rules, systems, and interactive frameworks while guiding students in applying emerging computational approaches to game content and behaviour. The role involves supporting students in developing procedural and AI-driven workflows, building adaptive and interactive systems, integrating and visualising real-time data, and translating conceptual, technical, and creative ideas into functional game demos. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate how these techniques can be applied across different game projects and extended to immersive visualisation, simulation, and other interactive digital experiences.
Candidates should have a relevant Master’s and/or PhD in Game Design, Interactive Media, or a related field with a track record of creative practice in the gaming industry. Past teaching experience at the Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor degree in Game Design or a related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience (such as e.g. lead design/animation or indie development) may also be considered in exceptional cases.
