Principal Product Manager, Clinical AI and Medical Device
About the role
About the Role
You are a seasoned Product Manager with a hands-on AI builder mindset, moving from clinical workflow discovery to prototypes, demos, and evaluations that validate ideas early. You own the problem space, user outcomes, business value, and product requirements, using tangible artifacts to test assumptions and guide decisions. You partner with engineering to deliver production solutions, shape reusable Clinical AI Platform capabilities, and work with clinical, quality, and regulatory experts to address applicable medical device requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Product Management: Strong experience in user discovery, product strategy, roadmap prioritization, requirements definition, and measurable clinical and business outcomes.
- AI Fluency: Working knowledge of LLMs, prompt design, agent workflows, tool/API integration, and evaluation of probabilistic outputs.
- Hands-On Prototyping: Ability to use AI development tools, lightweight code, or low-code platforms to create prototypes and demos for learning, customer validation, and stakeholder alignment.
- Clinical Workflow Understanding: Ability to translate care team needs into usable AI experiences with appropriate patient context, safety boundaries, and clinician oversight.
- Platform Thinking: Ability to identify reusable capabilities across products and partner with engineering on platform priorities, interfaces, reliability, performance, and cost.
- Medical Device Experience: Experience in product development within a medical device quality system, including risk management, design controls, verification and validation, and controlled product changes.
- Data & Analytics: Ability to interpret usage data, execution traces, evaluation scorecards, and production metrics to inform product decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prototype & Validate Concepts: Use AI coding assistants, low-code/no-code tools, and lightweight configurations to build prototypes and demos that test workflows, communicate ideas, and validate customer value before committing to development.
- Define & Refine AI Behavior: Work with technical teams to inspect prompts, patient context, knowledge grounding, tool calls, and failure modes. Define expected agent behavior, autonomy, clinician oversight, and escalation paths.
- Guide AI Evaluations: Define representative clinical scenarios, reference datasets, edge cases, and scoring criteria. Partner with clinical and engineering teams to evaluate accuracy, clinical appropriateness, safety, task completion, and handling of uncertainty.
- Own the Product Lifecycle: Lead discovery, define intended use, prioritize roadmaps, and develop clear requirements and success metrics. Partner with engineering on delivery and use customer feedback, evaluations, and production insights to guide improvements.
- Shape the Clinical AI Platform: Identify shared needs across agents and influence platform capabilities for context retrieval, orchestration, tool integration, evaluations, observability, and lifecycle management. Use prototypes and customer evidence to validate platform priorities.
- Address Medical Device Requirements: Partner with Regulatory, Quality, and Clinical Safety to assess medical device applicability. For regulated capabilities, own product contributions to requirements traceability, risk management, design controls, verification and validation, release evidence, change control, and post-market monitoring.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work with engineering, design, clinical informatics, data, and go-to-market teams to translate validated concepts into production requirements, support launches, and measure adoption and value.
Certain U.S. based or U.S. customer or client-facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization/occupational health mandates, and/or drug testing requirements.
