Summary:
Clio is hiring a Pigment Model Builder to design, build, and maintain the planning models that our FP&A organization runs on. This is a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the Director, FP&A Systems Strategy. The Director sets the systems roadmap, standards, and prioritization; this role does the building - translating documented requirements into working models, integrations, and reporting inside Pigment.
The ideal candidate is someone who has spent real time inside an enterprise planning platform doing configuration and calculation work, not just consuming reports out of one. They are comfortable working within an established architecture and change process, fluent enough in FP&A content to build models that hold up under scrutiny, and patient with finance users during peak planning cycles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build and maintain planning models, modules, and calculation logic in Pigment across revenue, headcount, operating expense, and three-statement planning, following the agreed upon architecture and design standards.
- Configure and maintain dimensions, hierarchies, lists, and mappings - cost centers, accounts, departments, regions, entities, and business units - applying the master data standards defined by the broader finance systems governance process, including changes driven by reorganizations and newly acquired entities.
- Understand and monitor data integrations and scheduled loads between Pigment and core systems including NetSuite, Leapfin, Workday, Salesforce, and Databricks; monitor jobs, investigate failed loads, and validate data on arrival.
- Perform recurring reconciliations between Pigment and source-of-truth systems, document variances, and escalate unresolved discrepancies.
- Translate requirements documented in partnership with the FP&A business partners into model designs, then build, unit test, and iterate to sign-off.
- Build and maintain reporting templates, boards, and dashboards in Pigment, and support downstream reporting in tools where planning data is consumed.
- Execute test plans and coordinate user acceptance testing with FP&A stakeholders; log defects and track them to closure.
- Maintain model documentation, calculation logic dictionaries, change logs, and support runbooks in line with established documentation standards.
- Support planning cycle readiness and execution - version rollovers, actuals refreshes, scenario setup, template rollout, and user access assignment for budget, forecast, and close cycles.
- Provide day-to-day support and informal training to FP&A end users during planning cycles, troubleshooting model and data questions as they arise.
- Surface platform limitations, enhancement requests, and vendor-side defects, and raise or follow up on vendor support tickets as directed.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of experience in FP&A, finance systems, or EPM roles, including hands-on build responsibility in an enterprise planning platform. Pigment strongly preferred; Anaplan, Adaptive, Vena, Planful, or similar considered as adjacent experience.
- Demonstrated experience building models and calculation logic - dimensionality, formulas, mappings, and data flows - rather than only administering or reporting out of a planning tool.
- Able to work fluently with core FP&A content, including driver-based planning, headcount planning, three-statement modeling, and SaaS metrics such as ARR, churn, NRR, and pipeline conversion.
- Working knowledge of how ERP, HRIS, CRM, and billing or revenue data is structured and flows into planning systems (NetSuite, Workday, Salesforce, Leapfin, or equivalents).
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting data loads and integrations, including validation checks and reconciliation to source.
- Strong documentation discipline and attention to detail, with the ability to work inside standards, naming conventions, and change control processes set by others.
- Comfortable supporting non-technical finance users under time pressure during active planning cycles.
- Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain model behavior to finance stakeholders and technical constraints to non-technical partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pigment certification, or experience on a Pigment/Anaplan implementation or migration.
- Experience through a full EPM implementation or a migration off Excel or a legacy planning tool.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, or data warehouse concepts; exposure to Databricks is a plus.
