More about the role & team
We’re looking for a Tax Technologist to join our global tax team, combining strong tax expertise with technology to make our tax processes more efficient, accurate and scalable.
This is a tax-first role with a significant technology focus. You’ll take ownership of US sales and use tax and Canadian indirect tax compliance, while supporting tax provisions and wider North American compliance. At the same time, you’ll use tools including Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot and Power BI to automate manual processes, improve data integrity and build better reporting and insight.
It’s a broad, hands-on opportunity in a lean in-house team. You’ll have the scope to own recurring tax work while identifying where automation, better data and smarter processes can reduce manual effort and reliance on external advisers.
Key Responsibilities
- Own US sales and use tax and Canadian indirect tax compliance, ensuring recurring requirements are controlled and accurate.
- Support tax provision preparation and wider North American tax compliance activities.
- Build and improve automated workflows, reconciliations, reporting and dashboards using Excel, Power Query, Power Pivot, Power BI, Smart View and relevant ERP data.
- Manipulate, analyse and validate large data sets, improving the integrity and visibility of tax data.
- Build tax and cash scenario models that provide timely insight and support decision-making.
- Partner across Finance and Technology, translating tax requirements into practical systems and process improvements
Why Join Us
- Genuine ownership: join a small in-house tax team supporting a multinational business, with direct responsibility rather than a narrow client assignment.
- A real tax + technology role: approximately 50–60% of the role is expected to focus on technology, automation and process improvement, alongside compliance, provision and project work.
- Visible impact: build dashboards, models and automated reporting that improve decision-making, strengthen controls and reduce manual work and external-adviser costs.
- Broad exposure: combine North American tax ownership with automation, analytics and international exposure in an in-house environment.
What skills and experience do I need to succeed?

- 3+ years of relevant experience across tax, accounting, finance operations or business-process automation, with a tax-first background.

- Working knowledge of corporate tax principles and tax provision processes.
- Advanced Excel capability, including Power Query, Power Pivot and complex formulas.
- Experience using Power BI and working with large data sets to analyse, manipulate and validate data.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work proactively and independently while knowing when to escalate.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the judgement to work effectively with Finance and Technology colleagues, executives, external advisers and tax authorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Information Systems, Data Analytics or a related field.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with Smart View and ERP platforms such as NetSuite, Oracle or SAP.
Experience with Alteryx, SQL, Python or comparable tools. - A track record of using automation and analytics to streamline tax or finance processes.
