Job Summary
Finance Costing COE Transformation Lead, Individual Contributor is the recognized authority for enterprise product costing transformation and a core member of the Finance-led Costing Center of Excellence.
This hands-on individual contributor shapes the enterprise costing strategy, sets functional policy and direction, and co- leads the most complex design and implementation work required to establish a sustainable, globally consistent costing capability.
The role connects business strategy, process design, governance, data, controls, analytics and technology requirements across Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Units and Digital. It challenges legacy practices, converts complex business problems into practical future-state solutions, and drives approved changes from baseline and design through adoption and measurable value realization.
Key Responsibilities
· Design and operationalize the Finance-led Costing CoE, including its charter, operating model, governance, roles, decision rights and escalation paths.
· Execute the enterprise costing transformation roadmap, translating current-state gaps and strategic priorities into scalable future-state capabilities and measurable outcomes.
· Establish enterprise costing policies and standards, including documentation, change control, exception governance and alignment across business units and functions.
· Lead design of the enterprise cost model and taxonomy, including cost components, definitions, hierarchies, applicability rules and product cost rollups.
· Standardize end-to-end costing methods and processes, including rates, allocations, workflows, approvals, controls, reconciliations and cross-functional handoffs.
· Define Finance requirements for technology, data and analytics, covering costing configuration, automation, integrations, data ownership, lineage and trusted performance insights.
· Lead functional design, validation and business readiness, resolving complex issues and dependencies through implementation.
· Drive adoption and sustainable value realization through clear accountability, training, documentation, knowledge transfer and continuous improvement.
Education and Experience Recommended
· Four-year or graduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated competence.
· Advanced university degree, professional accounting qualification or relevant transformation credential preferred.
· Typically 12+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance, product costing, enterprise transformation or related disciplines, including leadership of complex global initiatives.
· Proven record of personally designing and implementing a comparable end-to-end costing transformation in a large, complex, global organization.
· Deep product-costing experience in hardware, manufacturing or technology environments; experience spanning additional business models such as software or services is highly valued.
· Experience working across Finance, Supply Chain, Procurement, Business Units, data, controls, enterprise architecture and technology delivery teams.
· Experience defining Finance requirements for SAP-based costing environments, such as SAP S/4HANA and SAP CO-PC, and for integrated enterprise data and reporting landscapes is preferred.
Principal-Level Mandate
· Demonstrate unique mastery of enterprise costing practices, operating models, methodologies, controls and enabling technologies, and serve as a recognized authority in the field.
· Develop strategy and set functional policy and direction for enterprise costing within the approved CoE mandate and governance model.
· Create highly innovative, scalable solutions for the company’s most complex costing disciplines, balancing a common enterprise core with justified business-model requirements.
· Lead large, cross-division and multi-function transformation efforts that affect long-term business goals, financial management capabilities and operating effectiveness.
· Routinely exercise independent judgment in defining methods, techniques and decision criteria; frame reserved decisions and escalate them through agreed governance forums.
· Act as a functional manager within the area of expertise without direct people management responsibility; mentor and guide SMEs and less-experienced professionals.
Critical Hiring Criteria
Candidates must provide specific evidence that they have personally led and implemented a comparable costing transformation. The strongest candidates will be able to explain the starting conditions, their own design and execution accountability, the methods used, critical decisions, measurable outcomes, what did not work, and how the capability was sustained after implementation.
“I have personally delivered a comparable costing transformation, understand what succeeds and fails, and can roll up my sleeves to design and implement the solution.”
