About the role

The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.

The Opportunity

Allegro MicroSystems is seeking a Linux Administrator to join our global team in supporting Allegro’s high-performance Engineering Simulation environment. This role is critical to our product development cycle, as you will manage the infrastructure that allows our IC design engineers to simulate and verify the next generation of sensing and power technologies.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the Linux operating system in an enterprise environment, coupled with outstanding customer service skills and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable language for non-technical stakeholders.

What You Will Do

In this role, you will be responsible for the operational support, maintenance, and evolution of our global GNU/Linux infrastructure. You will work closely with our corporate EDA (Electronic Design Automation) team to ensure all standards are met and that our High-Performance Computing clusters are running at peak efficiency.

  • Plan, install, and provide daily support for all managed GNU/Linux systems across several regions, including both cloud and on-premises systems.
  • Collaborate with the global EDA operations team to resolve service incidents and ensure high availability for design engineering applications (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Keysight Cliosoft).
  • Perform server administration duties, including deployment, configuration, patching, and lifecycle management. Deploy and configure servers using Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet).
  • Administer Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine VMs, Cloud Storage) and on-premises Dell VxRail (VMware) clusters. Build and deploy virtual machines and templates, and manage Dell Isilon and vSAN storage.
  • Utilize Google Cloud Metrics Explorer, Google Cloud Logs Explorer and other monitoring tools to monitor the health of systems and services.
  • Use scripting languages (tcsh, Bash) to automate operational workflows.
  • Ensure timely resolution of high-severity incidents, including professional communication, reporting, and follow-up actions.
  • Create, maintain, and follow technical documentation for processes and standards, and provide backup coverage and cross-training for other members of the systems administration team.
  • Provide occasional support outside standard business hours for critical incidents and planned maintenance.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing an enterprise GNU/Linux environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage) or a comparable cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), primarily RHEL 8.
  • Ability to read, understand, and write scripts (e.g., Bash, tcsh) to automate tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to prioritize and organize effectively in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
  • A Red Hat certification (RHCSA or RHCE) is a significant plus.
