About the role

About Us

AXQ Capital is a global quantitative investment firm. We build diverse sources of investment edge across geographies, asset classes, and trading horizons. Our strategies are grounded in rigorous scientific research and deep market understanding, strengthened by sustained investment in data, technology, and AI. Our team brings together exceptional talent from leading academic institutions and the world’s most respected quantitative firms. We foster a collaborative culture built on curiosity, rigor, and ownership, where the best ideas win and people grow with the firm.

Job Duties

Markets are noisy, competitive, and constantly evolving — finding a durable edge is one of the hardest problems in applied research. As a Quantitative Researcher, you will take on that challenge with real ownership, gaining exposure to every part of the investment process: alpha generation, portfolio construction and trade execution. You'll work closely with fellow researchers and quantitative developers, with AXQ's data, research tools and trading infrastructure behind you from day one. Your work will include:

  • Developing and refining quantitative trading strategies across global equities and futures, from initial idea through live deployment
  • Transforming raw market and alternative data into research-ready inputs that power alpha discovery
  • Applying tools from probability, statistics, and machine learning to uncover patterns and predictive signals in market data
  • Exploring portfolio construction and optimization techniques that combine individual strategies into robust, risk-managed portfolios
  • Leveraging agentic AI workflows to accelerate the research cycle — from hypothesis generation to automated backtesting and analysis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD from a top-tier university in a quantitative or technical field, such as math, physics, statistics, or computer science
  • Strong foundation in probability, statistics, time-series analysis, and machine learning
  • Strong Python skills for conducting research
  • Self-motivated, with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
  • Curious and collaborative, with the ability to communicate research clearly
  • Publications in leading journals or conferences, or strong results in national or international Olympiads (math, physics, or computer science), are a plus

Benefits

AXQ team members enjoy comprehensive benefits, including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% employer-paid premiums for individuals
  • 401(k) with employer matching up to 6%
  • Life and disability insurance
  • Health savings and flexible spending accounts
  • Generous paid time off
  • Regular office-provided meals and team events

The anticipated annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $200,000, depending on prior experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive total compensation package that includes base salary and an annual discretionary bonus.
