Senior People Manager
About the role
Every breach, every failed audit, every new hire stuck in onboarding purgatory traces back to the same question: who has access to what — and should they?
Identity is where modern companies break. Too much access leaks data. Too little grinds the business to a halt. Lumos is the industry's first Autonomous Identity Platform — software that doesn't just surface access risk, but acts on it. We started with a self-service AppStore and grew into the critical infrastructure connecting apps, identities, and data for GitHub, MongoDB, Mars, Pinterest, Anduril, Intercom, Roku, and Netskope. At the center is Albus, our AI agent for identity — mining roles, approving access, and catching the drift humans miss.
You'll ship work that thousands of IT and security teams touch every day. You'll own problems without playbooks, because the category is being redefined in real time — by us.
Why Lumos?
🚀 Jump on a rocketship. Since launching out of stealth in April 2022, we've grown from 20 to ~130 Alchemists and raised over $65M from a16z, Scale, Neo, Greg Brockman (President at OpenAI), and Phil Venables (CISO at Google).
⭐ Customers love us — and so does the industry. Named a Strong Performer in the 2026 Gartner Voice of the Customer for IGA — 4.7/5, with 96% of reviewers saying they'd recommend us. Our customers cut time-to-access by 98%, slash IT tickets by 72%, and eliminate excess privilege at scale.
🏆 A culture worth joining. Three years running on Forbes' Top 100 Best Startup Employers in America (2024, 2025, 2026) — measured on culture, retention, growth, and job creation. That's our Alchemists, not our marketing. See what we live by here.
Role Overview:
As a Senior People Manager at Lumos, you'll be at the center of building programs and operations that bring our people strategy to life. You'll report to our Head of People and partner closely with them on where the team goes next; developing people programs, owning whether they work, and building the operating system underneath them. This isn't a role where you inherit a playbook and run it, it's one where you'll have the freedom to craft and design it.
Your work sits across three pillars:
People Programs & Insights is the center of the role: you'll develop programs across employee performance, engagement, talent management, recognition and manager enablement. Using people data to define each program's success, track how it lands and decide how it evolves.
People Experience & Operations means an integrated, AI-enabled people stack that makes every process feel seamless for employees, managers and the People team.
People Partnering means working closely with leaders and managers so programs are adopted where the work happens and people decisions are grounded in data.
✨ Your Responsibilities:
Program ownership end to end: Own program management for the key moments that make our team tick, things like: performance cycles, engagement, talent management, recognition, career leveling and manager enablement.
Roadmap and Rollout: Be a true partner in shaping the annual people program roadmap, bringing a clear POV on recommendations that move the People team’s OKRs.
AI Enabled Operations: Map core people workflows around items like onboarding, departures, and employee questions, using AI and automation to remove manual steps and handoffs.
Systems & Integrations: Optimize the people tech stack and their integrations for tools such as: HiBob, Culture Amp, Deel, and Sequoia One. Ensure data flows correctly and we maintain accurate, compliant records.
Manager Partnership: Develop trusted relationships across the organization that facilitate meaningful conversations and result in the successful rollout of programs. As a core part of the People team, periodically participate in employee relations matters and support the Head of People on complex cases.
Annual Company Offsite [Attendance & International Travel Required]: The People team owns our company offsite end to end and this role is a core part of that. In partnership with our external event planning co. you'll coordinate this event, own communications and be a primary liaison during offsite. Success means every employee arrives informed, the week runs smoothly, and the event lands on budget.
🙌 What We’re Looking For:
5 to 8 years in People or HR, including meaningful time building and owning people programs and operations at a startup or high growth company.
A track record of outcomes, not just launches: you can name a program you built, the metric it moved, and what you changed after the first cycle.
You're a credible facilitator and coach whose optimism and fresh ideas make program moments land.
Genuine AI fluency: you use AI tools in your workflow today, have built or configured automations, and have implemented or meaningfully improved HR tools and their integrations, not just used them.
Business Acumen: curious about how Lumos makes money, our mission and where we're headed; you can connect people programs to business outcomes.
You move quickly without sacrificing quality, especially on HRIS data, employee comms, and anything employees experience directly.
Familiarity with Culture Amp, HiBob, Deel (EOR), or Sequoia One (PEO) a plus.
🙌 What We Value:
We also care about whether you would be a good fit for Lumos based on the values and characteristics that define how we achieve outcomes, not just your resume.
Lumos is an equal opportunity employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, protected veteran status, disability, age, or other legally protected status. If you require any reasonable accommodations, please let us know at any time.
Thank you for considering Lumos, we hope to hear from you! 🎉
