Company Description
Join iLOF to run the samples behind a new kind of blood test. Our Optomics® platform combines optical spectroscopy and AI to detect disease signatures in blood plasma, and we are moving from research towards validated tests, including a lung cancer blood test.
You will join our lab team to prepare and measure clinical plasma samples, keep our data high quality and learn the whole process end to end, from sample receipt to the data our scientists use to build models.
Job Description
Receive, log, store and prepare plasma samples following our SOPs, including −80 °C storage, thawing, centrifugation and visual quality checks (for example haemolysis, lipaemia, bubbles).
Run FTIR (and, where needed, Raman) measurements and quality-control checks on our instruments.
Keep accurate records of samples, measurements, QC, maintenance and any deviations; escalate problems that may affect results.
Help maintain the lab: consumables, equipment cleaning and basic maintenance, environmental monitoring.
Support validation runs and studies with the Biology and Data Science teams.
Suggest improvements to protocols as you learn the process.
Qualifications
Who we are looking for
You are careful, organised and enjoy hands-on lab work. You follow procedures precisely, notice when something looks wrong and want to understand why each step matters.
Qualifications
Must have
Degree in biomedical science, clinical analysis, biology, biochemistry or a related field.
Hands-on lab experience handling biological samples, ideally blood, plasma or serum.
Comfortable working to SOPs and keeping precise records.
Good English; Portuguese is a plus.
Advantageous
Experience in a clinical or accredited laboratory.
Experience with spectroscopy or other instrument-based assays.
Interest in data and how measurements turn into models.
The opportunity
Learn how a new diagnostic is built from the bench up, in a small team where your work directly affects the quality of our results.
