Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role also leads corporate insurance renewals, owns the FX hedging strategy, and builds RNF’s risk assessment and internal controls framework in partnership with external consultants and business leaders.

This role combines strong technical accounting expertise with practical business judgment and the ability to independently advance multiple priorities. The Senior Manager anticipates emerging risks, challenges existing processes and turns complex financial information into clear stories and actionable recommendations. Through effective team leadership and influence across functions, this individual strengthens accountability, develops people and builds processes and controls that support RNF’s continued growth.

Primary Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting

  • Own the accounting and financial reporting function, setting clear standards for accuracy, timeliness and accountability across the team and international accounting partners.
  • Lead the month end and year end close, managing calendars, dependencies and issue resolution; review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, provisions, fixed assets and intercompany transactions.
  • Lead global financial consolidation, including intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation, supporting schedules and financial statement disclosures in accordance with ASPE.
  • Oversee the general ledger chart of accounts and accounting policies to maintain reliable financial data and consistent accounting practices across entities.
  • Translate financial results, significant movements and accounting judgments into clear narratives that explain business implications and actions required for Finance leadership and business partners.
  • Oversee cash flow and working capital reporting and applicable government remittances and tax instalments, coordinating with internal owners and external advisors to ensure accurate and timely completion.

Annual Audit and Technical Accounting

  • Lead the annual external audit from planning through final financial statement issuance, owning the timelines, audit readiness, supporting schedules, team deliverables and resolution of outstanding matters.
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, coordinating internal stakeholders and international accounting partners to deliver a well-managed audit with timely escalation of significant issues.
  • Research and resolve complex accounting matters, prepare and review technical position papers, and assess the reporting implications of new transactions and changes in the business.
  • Drive timely resolution of audit findings and management letter recommendations, assigning owners and following through on corrective actions.

Risk Assessment and Internal Controls

  • Build RNF’s risk assessment framework with external consultants and business leaders, using growth plans, historical issues and changes in operations to identify key risks and prioritize areas of focus.
  • Assess whether key controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively, and partner with business owners to address gaps and implement practical process improvements.

FX Strategy and Corporate Insurance

  • Own and lead RNF’s existing rolling 24-month FX exposure and hedging process, coordinating timely forecast updates with business partners and recommending how much currency exposure to hedge and when, in line with business needs and approved risk limits.
  • Coordinate approved hedge execution with banking partners and authorized signatories; monitor exposures and hedge outcomes, and oversee related accounting, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Lead the annual corporate insurance renewal from planning and data collection through coverage placement, coordinating brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders to meet renewal deadlines.
  • Evaluate coverage, limits, deductibles, exclusions and premiums against RNF’s evolving operations and exposures; present renewal recommendations and address coverage needs arising between renewals.

Team Leadership and Continuous Improvement

  • Lead and support the accounting team, providing clear direction, coaching and opportunities for ongoing professional development.
  • Independently manage multiple concurrent priorities, balancing recurring reporting deadlines with audits, renewals and improvement initiatives; anticipate dependencies, resolve roadblocks and escalate matters with practical recommendations.
  • Build trusted relationships across functions and influence stakeholders through clear communication, sound judgment and an understanding of business needs, securing commitment to changes and shared deliverables.
  • Proactively identify what could become a problem as RNF grows; challenge established approaches and lead practical improvements in processes, systems and automation that strengthen reporting quality, controls and efficiency.

Key Qualifications

  • CPA designation and a university degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and reporting experience, including 3+ years leading a team.
  • Strong ASPE or IFRS knowledge and proven experience leading consolidation, month end close and annual audits.
  • Experience assessing risks, evaluating internal controls and implementing practical improvements.
  • Experience managing FX exposures, forecasts and hedging activities.
  • Strong team leadership, coaching and development skills.
  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgment and anticipate issues.

At Riverside, we are committed to transparency and fairness in our compensation and job posting practices. The range above reflects the target compensation for the position at the time of posting. Exact compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education, and training, as well as other organizational needs, while balancing internal equity.

What we expect:

  • Values-led: You’ll be a member of a thoughtful and compassionate team that prioritizes respect, teamwork and resourcefulness along with a good dash of fun. Sometimes, even making granola bars is hard, and life’s too short to take ourselves so seriously that we don’t enjoy the journey.
  • Unparalleled experiences and opportunities: We’re still determining who we are and what we can be. Help us shape what this organization will look like and what we’ll offer the world, into the future. This means rolling up your sleeves and sometimes building the process – fast! – while employing it. At Riverside, progress occasionally means proceeding imperfectly, and we’re okay with that, as long as we’re staying true to our values and learning and improving along the way.
  • Access to everyone: We’re a flat organization with few silos which means you’ll have full access to everyone from our founders to our production staff. Even when employees dress up, they wear steel-toed shoes. So don’t be shy. Speak up, share your ideas and go places you normally wouldn’t – like the plant, or the boardroom.
  • Personal development: We’ll support and empower you to chart your own path and reach any heights you set for yourself. Career paths at Riverside are carved by the people walking on them, not dictated by leaders. Count on us to give you the training and tools to grow and progress.
  • Gratitude: As a growing business, we can’t always offer formal recognition like awards programs, but we do show our true gratitude and appreciation. At Riverside, we’re all in this together and we value you.
  • Be a Riverside Brand Ambassador: Stay relentlessly close to our consumers and represent the brand in every interaction, decision, and deliverable. Bring the consumer voice into your work by protecting product quality, availability, and experience, acting early when standards slip, and delivering consistent value that earns trust, advocacy, and long-term brand love.

What We Offer:

  • Values-led: We don’t cut corners or step on anyone or anything on our way to our summit. There is no winning at all costs here. Every step you take must align with our values, no compromises.
  • Courageous determination: As a family-run, rapidly growing business, we are often challenged to find ways to deliver that aren’t obvious or easy. You must be willing to try, ask and answer challenging questions, test and learn, turn over every stone, keep moving forward and help us find a way through. Resourcefulness and grit will be your constant companions at Riverside and will serve you well.
  • Humility: We’re a small (but growing) fish in a sea of whales and sharks. We know the products we offer are some of the healthiest and most sustainable, but we don’t brag about it, and know we have a steep path ahead. We pride ourselves in being respectful and supportive of others while shining brightly through our innovative, high-quality products. There isn’t one superstar at Riverside. We take turns leading the way as we climb to the summit.
  • Continuous improvement: As a learn-as-we-go organization, we rely on each other to continuously improve everything we touch to make it better, more efficient, more sustainable, and more endearing to customers, consumers, employees, vendors, partners and the community. We own our mistakes and learn from them as we wind our way to the top.
