The Role
We are seeking a Senior IaC Architect to own the strategy, structure, and governance of CAA’s infrastructure-as-code ecosystem across global platforms. This is a high-visibility technical lead role responsible for defining how IaC is designed, standardized, secured, versioned, reviewed, and scaled across environments. As the gatekeeper for IaC direction, the IaC Architect will establish the patterns, frameworks, guardrails, and operating models that engineering teams follow when building CI/CD pipelines, Terraform modules, deployment workflows, and automation capabilities. This role is centered on Terraform, CI/CD, GitHub, Azure DevOps, cloud and network technologies, and Kubernetes, with a strong focus on setting the architectural standards that ensure reliability, repeatability, security, and operational consistency. The IaC Architect will partner closely with engineering, security, operations, and platform teams to translate business and technical requirements into scalable IaC strategies while ensuring all implementations align to approved standards and long-term platform objectives. The ideal candidate is a forward-thinking infrastructure leader who thinks in code, designs for automation, and brings deep practical experience in infrastructure engineering, DevOps, and platform operations. You will define the blueprint for release automation, pipeline structure, branching and approval models, module design, environment promotion, policy-as-code, daily health checks, regression and resiliency testing, and self-healing workflows. While engineering teams may execute the build, the IaC Architect owns the strategy, structure, governance, and quality bar for how infrastructure-as-code is delivered and operated at CAA. This is a strategic role for an experienced IaC professional who can balance hands-on technical depth with architectural ownership, establish clear standards, eliminate inconsistency, reduce operational risk, and continuously raise the maturity of how CAA ships, governs, and operates infrastructure through code.
Responsibilities
- Own the overall strategy, structure, governance, and operating model for CAA’s Infrastructure-as-Code practice across global platforms.
- Serve as the gatekeeper for IaC standards, ensuring all Terraform modules, CI/CD pipelines, automation patterns, and deployment workflows align with approved architectural direction.
- Define and maintain IaC frameworks, reusable patterns, guardrails, naming conventions, module structures, repository standards, and environment promotion models.
- Establish standards for Terraform module design, versioning, testing, publishing, reuse, and lifecycle management across teams.
- Set the blueprint for CI/CD pipeline architecture across GitHub and Azure DevOps, including branching strategies, approval workflows, release gates, and deployment controls.
- Partner with engineering, security, operations, and platform teams to translate technical and business requirements into scalable IaC strategies.
- Review and approve IaC designs, pipeline structures, Terraform patterns, and automation approaches to ensure consistency, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Define and enforce policy-as-code, security scanning, secrets management, compliance controls, and DevSecOps practices within IaC and CI/CD workflows.
- Establish standards for automated validation, regression testing, resiliency testing, drift detection, and infrastructure health checks.
- Guide the design of self-healing workflows and proactive automation that detect, prevent, or remediate issues before they impact the business.
- Provide technical leadership for cloud, network, Kubernetes, and platform automation strategies, ensuring IaC practices support both current and future-state infrastructure needs.
- Drive consistency across environments by standardizing how infrastructure is provisioned, promoted, monitored, and maintained through code.
- Create and maintain IaC reference architectures, technical documentation, decision records, diagrams, and implementation guidance for engineering teams.
- Mentor engineers on IaC best practices, Terraform standards, CI/CD design, automation patterns, and operational excellence.
- Continuously evaluate and improve CAA’s IaC maturity, tooling, governance model, and automation capabilities to reduce risk, eliminate inconsistency, and improve delivery velocity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 10+ years of hands-on DevOps, platform, or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Strong, hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, including modular, version-controlled designs.
- Deep experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub (Actions) and Azure DevOps.
- Hands-on experience with Git branching strategies and merge/pull request workflows, including branch policies and pipeline gating.
- Fundamental understanding of cloud and network technologies (e.g., Azure or AWS, VNets, DNS, load balancing, and firewalls).
- Working experience with containers and Kubernetes (e.g., Docker and AKS).
- Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Python, or Bash), a forward-thinking automation-first mindset, and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications such as HashiCorp Terraform Associate or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400).
- Experience with Kubernetes at scale and GitOps workflows (e.g., Helm, Argo CD, or Flux).
- Interest in media and entertainment technology or workflows.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and policy-as-code (e.g., OPA or Sentinel) and observability tooling (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
