Engineering Manager
About the role
Company Description
Streem Energy develops SaaS software for producers, aggregators and suppliers operating renewable energy assets across Europe. Our platform combines energy-market rules, data and operational workflows. Building it requires strong engineering and a detailed understanding of our customers’ business.
Job Description
You will manage around five Product Builders: engineers who work with Product Managers to design, build and improve the product with a high degree of autonomy. Your role is to help them deliver faster, simplify solutions, improve technical decisions and work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
You will also design solutions, write code and deliver software in production. At Streem, all technical managers build, including the CTO and Head of Engineering. The role requires both people management skills and the technical depth to resolve difficult engineering problems.
You will work on
- Developing the team through clear expectations and specific, timely feedback, both positive and negative. Help each engineer improve their judgment, planning and autonomy; address performance issues directly.
- Building product and technical improvements yourself, and helping PBs work through complex problems. Challenge architectures, simplify solutions and reduce unnecessary coupling and development effort.
- Helping PBs plan with PMs, identify risks early and deliver incrementally. Remove blockers and make exchanges with colleagues, customers and partners more effective while preserving PB ownership.
- Structuring the team so it can work independently and move quickly. Rethink working practices as AI tools evolve, use them in your own work and assess their impact on delivery and quality.
- Developing the business and energy-market expertise needed to make sound technical trade-offs and build reusable solutions across customers and markets.
Qualifications
Typically 6–10 years of software engineering experience, including a successful first experience managing engineers and helping them progress.
An outstanding engineering track record, with complex problems solved, substantial responsibility for production systems and clear results. You are still actively building software.
An excellent academic background, ideally from a leading engineering school, supported by professional achievements demonstrating technical depth, analytical rigor and rapid progression.
The ability to bring structure, make pragmatic decisions under uncertainty and coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
A strong drive to deliver, a willingness to rethink your methods as tools evolve and the ability to learn a complex business domain.
