FP&A Systems Expert
About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Oracle EPM Cloud expert to own and evolve the planning platform that powers our budget, re-forecasts, and multi-year plan. You will be the go-to technical partner for FP&A, translating business questions into models, automations, AI-driven insights, and reports that people trust and actually use.
This role suits someone who enjoys both building the system and understanding the numbers that flow through it.
You will also manage and mentor one team member, setting priorities and reviewing work across the platform.
• Administer and tune the Oracle EPBCS / EPM Cloud Planning application, including dimensions, forms, business rules, and security.
• Own the FP&A systems AI roadmap, from identifying and sizing use cases to moving the best ones into production.
• Embed AI and machine learning in the platform, including Oracle IPM Insights and Predictive Planning forecasts, anomaly detection, and generative AI variance commentary.
• Build AI assistants and automations that let finance users query data in plain language and cut manual effort from close, forecast, and reporting.
• Partner with IT, data governance, and security to deploy AI responsibly, with validated outputs, clear controls, and user training.
• Partner with FP&A to build driver-based revenue growth and cost allocation models that sharpen business unit profitability reporting.
• Build a cash flow forecasting capability in EPM Cloud that links operating plans, working capital drivers, and balance sheet forecasts into a reliable view of liquidity.
• Align planning structures and hierarchies with Accounting’s actuals and chart of accounts.
• Build and maintain automated data and metadata integrations (Data Integration, EPM Automate, pipelines) and resolve daily load failures quickly.
• Own data integrity through reconciliation routines and controls that keep plan, forecast, and actuals in sync.
• Support the full planning calendar: annual budget, multi-year plan, quarterly forecasts, and quarter- and year-end reporting.
• Automate recurring reporting through scheduled distribution, self-service dashboards, and refreshable Smart View templates, and deliver ad hoc analysis for business partners.
• Manage Oracle’s quarterly updates: review release notes, regression-test, and communicate impacts.
• Train and support users, triage requests, and maintain documentation and SOPs.
• Lead and develop one direct report: set priorities, review design and build work, and ensure backup coverage for critical processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of experience building and supporting FP&A systems on the Oracle Hyperion / EPM suite, with at least 3 years hands-on in EPBCS or EPM Cloud Planning.
• Demonstrated experience delivering AI/ML or generative AI solutions for finance (e.g., Oracle IPM Insights, Python, or LLM-based tools), from use-case definition through user adoption.
• Strong command of Essbase (BSO/ASO), calculation scripts, business rules, and Groovy scripting.
• Proven experience with data integration, metadata management, user security, and process automation, including scripting (PowerShell, Python, or batch).
• Experience building automated reporting solutions (e.g., Oracle Financial Reports or Narrative Reporting, Power BI, or scheduled Smart View reporting).
• Expert-level Smart View and Excel skills (lookups, pivots, advanced formulas, template design).
• Solid understanding of corporate and business-unit planning, forecasting, and reporting processes.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to explain technical topics to finance users.
• Detail-oriented and self-directed; able to manage multiple priorities and hit deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Experience mentoring or supervising analysts or developers; formal people-management experience is a plus.
• Experience with other Oracle EPM modules (e.g., Narrative Reporting, FCC, Account Reconciliation, PCM) or a Hyperion-to-cloud migration is a plus.
How Success Is Measured
• Platform reliability: daily loads complete on time, exceptions are resolved within one business day, and there is no unplanned downtime during close or forecast windows.
• Data integrity: plan, forecast, and actuals reconcile to source systems every cycle with no unexplained material variances.
• Cycle efficiency: budget and forecast cycles get shorter year over year through automation and fewer manual handoffs.
• AI impact: at least one AI use case, such as predictive forecasting or automated variance
commentary, is in production and actively used by FP&A within the first 12 months.
• Cash flow forecasting: a cash flow forecast in EPM Cloud that FP&A relies on, with accuracy tracked against actuals.
• Reporting automation: recurring management reports go out on schedule without manual preparation, and hours saved are tracked.
• Business partnership: FP&A and Business Unit Finance teams treat the platform as a trusted source of insight, as shown by adoption and user feedback.
