About the role

Hendrick Technical Solutions

Location: 4400 Papa Joe Hendrick Blvd, Charlotte, North Carolina 28262

Hendrick Technical Solutions is seeking a Senior Electronics Assembly Technician to build, rework, and test printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) for our government and commercial programs.

This position sits on the Production team but works side by side with our electrical engineers, taking boards from prototype and first article into repeatable production. When there is no PCB work in the queue, this person will support wiring production for our vehicle platforms, building and testing wire harnesses and cable assemblies.

The right person is comfortable in a low-volume, high-mix environment where the work shifts as programs move from prototype into recurring production. A successful Senior Electronics Assembly Technician will become the go-to person for PCB builds at HTS and a trusted partner to our electrical engineers: boards built right the first time, failures understood, design issues caught before production, and wiring production kept moving when board work is light.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities include the following:

  • Hand-solder SMT and THT components, including fine-pitch parts, to IPC-A-610 / J-STD-001 standards.
  • Perform rework and repair, including component replacement, trace and pad repair, and conformal coating.
  • Inspect, power up, and functionally test assembled boards, and troubleshoot failures to the component level.
  • Build prototype and first-article boards with the electrical engineers and give design-for-manufacturability feedback.
  • Turn engineering builds into written, repeatable work instructions for production.
  • Build, route, and test wire harnesses and cable assemblies to IPC/WHMA-A-620 when PCB workload allows.
  • Verify kits against the BOM and maintain travelers, traceability, and build records by serial number.
  • Follow ESD, FOD, and moisture-sensitive device handling practices.
  • Communicate build status and risks to the Operations Manager, and help train other technicians as the team grows.

Qualifications:

We’re looking for someone with at least five years of hands-on PCB assembly, rework, or electronics technician experience who can pick up a schematic, drawing, BOM, or wire list and know where to start. Strong soldering and troubleshooting skills are essential, as is the discipline to document every build. Because this role works with ITAR-controlled technical data, applicants must be U.S. Persons.

Experience with several of the following would be helpful:

  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721 certification
  • Reflow profiling and conformal coating
  • Component-level troubleshooting with multimeters and oscilloscopes
  • Wire harness and cable assembly (IPC/WHMA-A-620)
  • Prototype and first-article builds
  • ERP/MRP systems (Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus)
  • Defense, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing

Desired Education:

  • GED
  • High School Diploma

Desired Work Experience:

  • 5+ years

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing with a direct relationship PCB assembly, rework, or electronics. defense, aerospace or manufacturing experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, or IPC-7711/7721 certification
  • This role subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.

Computer Skills:

  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Must have an ability to communicate effectively with others and serve as a team player to both departmental and organization team members.

  • Scheduled shifts may include evening hours, weekends, and holidays.
