As an internal strategic consultant and transformation leader, the Director translates opportunities into executable A3s, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes, from current-state assessment through adoption and value realization. Revenue Cycle leaders retain accountability for day-to-day operations; this role provides dedicated transformation capacity to redesign how work is performed and accelerate strategic priorities.
Primary Responsibilities:
Strategic Consulting & Revenue Cycle Performance:
- Review hospital and professional billing performance (financial, operational, workforce, technology) against targets and benchmarks to identify material opportunities.
- Translate enterprise objectives into a prioritized transformation agenda and business cases; serve as a trusted advisor to Revenue Cycle and executive leadership.
Enterprise Solutions & Process Transformation:
- Lead current- and future-state workflow design across front-, middle-, and back-end functions, redesigning processes before technology is applied.
- Develop standard work, operating models, governance, and performance-management mechanisms with frontline caregivers to ensure adoption.
Automation, Technology & Digital Enablement:
- Partner with IT, Epic, Analytics, and AI/automation teams to implement Epic optimization, RPA, AI, eligibility, authorization, and financial-clearance automation.
- Build automation business cases (capacity, revenue, cost, ROI) and measure reductions in manual work, cycle time, and expected financial outcomes.
Strategic A3 & Portfolio Management:
- Own the Revenue Cycle transformation portfolio and strategic A3s, with defined baselines, root causes, targets, owners, KPIs, and sustainment plans.
- Manage multi-workstream programs, consultants, and vendors to timeline, scope, and budget; report progress, risks, and decisions to senior leadership.
Performance Analytics & Value Realization:
- Partner with Finance and Analytics on baselines, targets, scorecards, and dashboards that measure both implementation activity and realized outcomes.
- Monitor KPIs such as cash, AR days, denials, net collection ratio, authorizations, POS collections, cost to collect, and automation rates; drive corrective action.
Change Management & Adoption:
- Engage leaders and frontline caregivers early; develop stakeholder, communication, readiness, training, and adoption plans for each initiative.
- Monitor post-implementation adoption, address barriers, and develop leaders and caregivers as change agents who sustain improvements.
Team Leadership:
- The Director will lead, coach, and develop assigned Strategic Enterprise Solutions resources (project management, performance analytics, process improvement, and change management), set clear priorities and accountability, deploy resources toward the highest-value priorities, and build internal capability to sustain improvements after transition to operational ownership.
Matrix Responsibilities:
- The Director will work closely with the VP of Strategic Enterprise Solutions and Revenue Cycle executive leadership, maintaining matrixed relationships with Patient Access, Physician Enterprise, hospital operations, Finance, IT, Epic, Analytics, clinical leadership, HR, Compliance, and external partners, and must lead through influence where direct reporting relationships do not exist.
