Akamai's growing, agile Compute Platform Team to build a scalable control plane for large-scale fleet automation in a high-impact environment that rewards innovation and technical excellence.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, building, and scaling a Fleet Operations Platform to maintain thousands of compute machines and millions of customer workloads.
• Providing technical expertise and leadership for your team.
• Working on the software running on the hosts in our data centers.
• Improving internal processes and systems on a consistent basis.
• Developing thorough and largely automated test suites for functional and regression testing to ensure fault tolerance and error handling.
• Troubleshooting upgrade failures, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and resolve edge cases across the hypervisor and Linux host stack.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have extensive, relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
• Be proficient in Python/Go for backend automation, REST APIs, and CLI scripting, with SQL database experience for state and metadata tracking.
• Possess experience designing, building, and scaling microservices architectures in production environments.
• Demonstrate your experience working with Linux based OS, Virtualization, KVM and Live Migrations.
• Demonstrate your experience with evaluating data using statistics or data
• Can effectively do troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Have the ability to discuss abstract software architectures from ideas through implementation and creatively apply domain experience to solve technical challenges.
• Be a collaborative team player who excels at joint problem-solving within an agile/Scrum environment.
