About the role

As Senior Cost Analyst, you will provide financial analysis, product costing, variance reporting and business partnering support for manufacturing operations at our Cape Town Manufacturing Site.

Reporting to the QSC Finance Business Partner, you will work across Production, Procurement, Engineering, Technical, Quality, Supply Chain, Commercial and Finance to improve cost performance, strengthen controls and support better decisions.

You will also drive loss analysis and productivity initiatives from ideation through execution, while maintaining accurate product costs and supporting budgeting and forecasting.

Key responsibilities

  • Partner with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to challenge non-value-added costs, identify savings opportunities and support delivery of financial and productivity commitments.
  • Drive loss analysis and continuous improvement, including gross margin ideation, the Site Zero Loss Roadmap, savings tracking, benefit realisation and corrective action.
  • Lead product costing and standard-cost activities, including cost roll-ups, costing-data integrity and cost assessments for new product introductions.
  • Analyse material, labour, overhead, production and third-party manufacturing variances, identifying root causes and providing clear recommendations to management.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly manufacturing performance reports, dashboards, trend analysis, inventory and WIP reviews, and insights for site leadership.
  • Support budgets, rolling forecasts, capital investment evaluations, sensitivity analysis, financial modelling and monitoring of approved project benefits.
  • Strengthen governance by completing assigned reconciliations, supporting inventory and costing controls, managing financial risks and contributing to internal and external audits.

Qualifications and skills

  • CIMA (qualified), ACCA or CA(SA) qualification.
  • At least 3 years' experience in manufacturing finance, cost accounting or supply chain finance.
  • Experience producing financial reports, models and decision-support analysis in an FMCG, pharmaceutical or consumer healthcare manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with SAP.
  • Experience with Power BI or another financial reporting tool, including reporting automation and process simplification.
  • Strong analytical judgement, commercial awareness and the ability to turn complex data into clear insight and recommendations.
  • Confidence building cross-functional relationships, influencing stakeholders and working effectively against deadlines.
  • A continuous-improvement mindset with high standards of integrity, accountability and control.
