Supplier Capacity Planning Analyst
About the role
The Supplier Capacity Planning Analyst is responsible for obtaining, validating, and analyzing supplier capacity information to determine whether the supply base can support current and future production requirements.
The role works closely with capacity planning, purchasing, supplier technical assistance, material planning and logistics, program teams, and regional constraint-management teams. The analyst will prepare capacity studies, identify supply risks, support production-planning activities, and coordinate actions to resolve supplier capacity shortfalls.
The position requires strong analytical, planning, supplier-management, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Collect and validate supplier capacity data and manufacturing-constraint information across assigned global markets.
- Analyze supplier production capacity against current operating plans, forecasted volumes, and new-program requirements.
- Prepare capacity studies in response to requests from regional vehicle-capacity planning teams.
- Identify supplier bottlenecks, capacity gaps, and manufacturing constraints that could affect production or program launches.
- Work with purchasing, supplier technical assistance, material planning and logistics, program teams, and suppliers to develop recovery or mitigation plans.
- Conduct short-term capacity studies to support monthly operating plans and changing production requirements.
- Support the monthly production-programming process by confirming that planned production volumes are supported by available supplier capacity.
- Prepare demand-versus-supply assessments for reported constraints.
- Develop commodity constraint summaries and supporting analyses using standard constraint-management methods and reporting formats.
- Communicate capacity-study requests, collaboration requirements, deadlines, and system notifications to suppliers.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure capacity information is submitted accurately and by the required deadline.
- Maintain supplier capacity data in relevant planning and capacity-management systems.
- Escalate unresolved supplier capacity risks to the appropriate purchasing, planning, program, and supplier-management teams.
- Maintain accurate status reports and communicate risks, assumptions, decisions, and required actions to stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements that improve data quality, study completion, supplier responsiveness, or planning efficiency.
