Account Executive, Midmarket
About the role
Steer offers a suite of software tools for today's automotive repair shop. We combine a mix of software tools that a repair shop needs to run a highly profitable shop, in one user-friendly, cost-effective platform. Through the Steer suite, we allow the shop owner to get back to focusing on what matters, and to stop worrying about marketing and customer retention.
Steer began as an online directory for drivers to find a local mechanic. Fast forward to today, Steer has launched a complete Customer Relationship Management (CRM) marketing suite, complete with text messaging, email automation, direct mail integration, reputation management, appointment reminders, declined/recommended services, and many other features. We are always innovating and we are proud to be a leader in the automotive repair industry. In August 2024 Steer acquired AutoOps - the leader in modern, intelligent, and fully integrated scheduling software for auto repair shops. AutoOps allows customers to smoothly schedule through a shop's website and Google Business Profile.
About Steer
Steer is the platform modern auto repair operators use to run scheduling, CRM, phones and marketing. We help shops book more cars, keep customers coming back and run every location the same way.
Multi-location operators are moving to modern tools fast, and we’re building the team to win them. This role is a big part of that.
Remote | 180k OTE (85,000 base + commission)
The Role
You’ll sell Steer to full-service auto repair groups with 4–10 locations. You’ll be talking to owners, regional directors and ops leaders.
This is a hunter role. You’ll build your own pipeline through outbound, and a dedicated BDR will add to it. You own the deal from first touch to signed contract.
We don’t sell features. We sell more cars, more revenue and more consistency across every location, and we prove it in the operator’s own numbers. You’ll help define how Steer wins in mid-market, and what you learn in the field will shape our positioning and product.
What You’ll Do
- Prospect and close new 4–10 location full-service operators
- Run the full sales cycle: outbound, discovery, demo, business case, contract
- Work closely with your dedicated BDR to build and qualify pipeline
- Multi-thread deals across owners, regional managers and shop-level leaders
- Build clear ROI cases using the operator’s own data: car count, ARO, missed calls, revenue per location
- Keep HubSpot clean and forecast accurately
- Bring buyer feedback to Product, Marketing and CS
- Join daily huddles and coaching, and keep sharpening your craft
- Represent Steer at industry events and with partners when it makes sense
What You Bring
Must have:
- A track record of hitting quota in a SaaS closing role
- Proven ability to self-source pipeline through outbound
- Experience running multi-step deals with several stakeholders
- Sharp discovery, qualification and objection handling
- The ability to talk business with owners and operators, not just pitch software
- High ownership, competitive drive and consistent execution
- Comfort with fast change. We move quickly.
Nice to have:
- Experience selling into automotive, tire, home services or other multi-location operators
- Background with CRM, scheduling, phone or marketing automation tools
- Experience at a growth-stage SaaS company
- Experience working with a BDR or SDR partner
What Success Looks Like
- $8K in new MRR per month
- A steady flow of self-sourced pipeline alongside what your BDR builds
- Strong sit rates, demo quality and win rates
- Disciplined outbound activity and a well-managed funnel
- A repeatable mid-market playbook that others can run
- Customers who see results in their numbers and expand with us

- Hiring manager interview with our Sr. Sales Manager (45 min)
