About the role

SEB is more than a bank. We are a technology-driven financial institution where everything starts from our customer needs and business outcomes. Cloud, AI, automation and modern engineering are natural parts of how we build, operate and continuously improve our technology platforms. From core banking platforms to hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, platform engineering, AI-enabled operations and automation, we offer a broad tech landscape and many paths to grow. Together, we are shaping secure, responsible and future-proof solutions for our customers and society. Are you ready to take on a new challenge?

Are you an experienced Technical Project Lead with a strong background in data platforms, data warehousing, and data engineering? Join us in driving complex data migration and modernization initiatives as part of common data initiative. This includes transforming Finans and Risk data warehouse mainframe solutions to a future platform.

About the role

As Technical Project Lead, you will own and drive the end-to-end delivery of strategic data transformation initiatives within SEB’s Finance and Risk area. You will coordinate engineers, architects, source-system teams, and business stakeholders to ensure that dependencies, risks, and technical decisions are actively managed and that deliveries move forward according to agreed objectives.

You will lead complex technical projects related to data migration, platform modernization, and the transition from legacy and mainframe-based solutions to the future Finans and Risk data platform (FR360). The role supports the broader Common Data Sources (CDS) initiative, within which FR360 and Business Information Warehouse (BIW) are two systems that need to be transformed. FR360 will be redesigned into the future FR360 platform, while BIW’s future path is still being evaluated and may involve modernization, migration, consolidation, or decommissioning.

The future platform will support the reliable integration of more than 200 source systems and provide trusted, traceable, and historically consistent data for Finance and Risk use cases in a regulated banking environment.

You will work closely with data engineers, architects, technical specialists, product owners, business stakeholders, and teams across Finance & Risk, and within Group Technology. Your responsibility will be to create structure and transparency across technical deliveries, coordinate dependencies, manage risks, and ensure that transformation initiatives move from planning to successful implementation.

This is a hands-on technical project leadership role. architecture necessarily develop the technical solutions yourself, but you need sufficient technical depth to understand data architectures, migration approaches, integration patterns, and engineering challenges. You will own getting technical decisions made by setting clear deadlines, challenging technical proposals and assumptions, and escalating unresolved decisions. The final technical decision may remain with the relevant architect or specialist. You should also be able to translate complex technical matters into clear plans and decision material for stakeholders and management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support and drive deliveries within the broader CDS initiative, including the transformation of FR360 and BIW and the transition from legacy and mainframe-based environments to the future Finance and Risk data platform.

  • Work closely with architects and engineers to understand migration strategies, target architectures, technical constraints, and implementation risks, while ensuring alignment between business requirements, technical solutions, regulatory expectations, and delivery plans.

  • Own the technical decision process by facilitating workshops and decision forums, setting deadlines, challenging proposals, escalating unresolved decisions, and preparing clear decision material, roadmaps, status reports, and management communication.

  • Support and drive the planning and execution of data migrations, testing, cutover, operational readiness, and decommissioning of legacy solutions.

  • Promote structured and transparent ways of working, collaboration, and accountability, ensuring that documentation, traceability, data governance, and audit requirements are addressed throughout the transformation.

To thrive in this role, we believe you have:

  • A proven track record as a Technical Project Lead, owning and coordinating the end-to-end delivery of complex technical projects or transformation initiatives across multiple systems, teams, and organizational areas.

  • A strong background in data platforms, data warehousing, data integration, or data engineering, with a solid understanding of modern data architecture, data pipelines, data modelling, and cloud-based data platforms.

  • Experience with data migration and the modernization of legacy or mainframe-based environments.

  • The ability to understand technical challenges, dependencies, and delivery risks and translate them into concrete plans, priorities, and decisions.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to work effectively with engineers, architects, business representatives, and senior management.

  • A structured and pragmatic approach, combined with strong planning and problem-solving skills and the ability to create clarity in large and technically complex initiatives.

  • Professional proficiency in English.

It is beneficial if you also have

  • Experience from banking, finance, or another regulated industry.

  • Experience with Finance and Risk data, regulatory reporting, or large-scale enterprise data platforms.

  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, including services such as BigQuery, Cloud Composer/Airflow, and Dataform/DBT.

  • Knowledge of enterprise data warehouse concepts, Data Vault 2.0, data lineage, historization, metadata, and data quality.

  • Experience working with batch-based or mainframe data flows and their migration to cloud-native solutions.

  • Experience with system decommissioning, cutover planning, and operational transition.

  • Knowledge of regulatory and governance requirements within data management, such as BCBS 239.

  • Experience working in agile delivery environments and coordinating several agile teams.

  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira and Confluence.

What we offer

  • Agile and modern ways of working.
