About The Shop

The Shop is our new home for design in San Francisco. Reimagined from a 1920s autobody shop on 10th Street in SoMa, it’s a communal hub for modern making: part gallery, part studio, part gathering place. Alongside our lighting collection, The Shop carries a curated selection of art and design books, independent magazines, scents, and an exclusive apparel collaboration.

The role

We’re looking for a part-time Shop Experience Associate to join us for the holiday season. You’ll be the first person visitors meet at The Shop. You’ll welcome them into the space, share the stories behind our products and the makers we carry, and help them find something they love.

This role suits someone with a strong eye and a genuine interest in design, art, fashion, or independent publishing, who enjoys talking with people. It’s a good fit alongside creative work, studies, or another job.

This is a temporary position running from November 17 through December 31, with the potential to continue into 2027.

Schedule

  • Saturdays, roughly 11am–5pm (occasionally until 6pm)
  • About 6–10 hours per week, including some additional shifts during peak holiday periods
  • Some Friday availability, including Black Friday, may be needed
  • Occasional special events
  • Location: The Shop, 320 10th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103

    • What you'll do

  • Welcome visitors and create a warm, low-pressure experience in the space
  • Learn our collection and the stories behind it, then share them with visitors (we’ll train you)
  • Help guests choose lighting, books, and gifts, and complete sales on Square
  • Keep displays styled, stocked, and looking their best
  • Help open and close The Shop

    • What we're looking for

  • A strong personal sense of style and a genuine interest in design, art, books, or fashion
  • Confident and natural in conversation with all kinds of visitors
  • Sharp, curious, and quick to pick up product knowledge
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Comfortable with basic tech, such as a tablet or Square POS system
  • Able to stand for most of a shift and lift light boxes
  • Retail, gallery, or hospitality experience is a plus but not required
