About the role

LSEG (London Stock Exchange Group) is a leading global financial markets infrastructure and data provider. Our purpose is driving financial stability, empowering economies and enabling customers to create sustainable growth. Our values—Integrity, Partnership, Excellence and Change—guide how we work, make decisions and collaborate.

Role Summary

The Director – Business Management (Chief of Staff – CoS) is a strategic adviser and execution partner to the India Country Head, translating country and enterprise priorities into a focused leadership agenda, informed decisions and measurable outcomes.

Working across the Country Head’s India-wide remit, the Chief of Staff brings independent insight and constructive challenge to complex issues, leads designated strategic initiatives, and aligns businesses, functions and global stakeholders around shared priorities. The role connects the India agenda with broader enterprise priorities, bringing clarity to ambiguity and ensuring strategic intent translates into coordinated action.

The role works directly with Group Leaders (MDs), members of the LSEG Executive Committee and colleagues across India and LSEG’s global offices, ensuring India perspectives inform enterprise decisions.

Combining strategic advice with hands-on execution, the role requires critical thinking to turn insights into actionable recommendations, strengthen governance and anticipate risks and dependencies. It translates decisions and commitments into clear ownership, coordinated action and disciplined follow-through.

Success requires leadership maturity, sound commercial judgement, discretion, and organisational and cultural awareness. The individual must build trusted relationships across businesses, functions and geographies, influence without formal authority, and navigate complexity and ambiguity with confidence.

Experience and Expertise

Required Experience and Capabilities

  • 15–20 years’ experience, including hands-on delivery and client management, with at least 6–7 years in a Chief of Staff, Business Management or COO capacity. Management consulting experience is strongly preferred; US or UK work experience is desirable.
  • Experience in Business Management, a COO office, Strategy, Chief of Staff or comparable roles supporting an organisational remit of 2,000+ employees.
  • Proven ability to advise and influence senior leaders across businesses, functions and geographies in a complex, matrixed global organisation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a track record of producing concise executive briefings, decision papers, presentations, talking points and leadership communications.
  • Demonstrated success delivering strategic, cross-functional or transformation initiatives, bringing structure to ambiguity and translating priorities into tangible outcomes.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, maintain oversight of commitments and remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to operate independently as an individual contributor, drawing on shared services support as required.
  • Strong strategic, analytical and commercial judgement, with the ability to synthesise complex information rapidly into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated experience in partnering with Finance on budgeting, forecasting, performance reviews and investment appraisal, translating analysis into recommendations on costs, benefits and resource trade-offs.
  • Excellent PowerPoint, Excel and AI skills are non-negotiable, alongside demonstrated ability to design models and develop business cases.
