What You'll Do as a CAD Designer
- Create detailed, production-ready CAD drawings and designs for metal fabrication projects.
- Produce accurate drawings using Autodesk software, including Inventor and Fusion.
- Check drawings for dimensions, materials, accuracy, and manufacturability before submitting them for review and production.
- Coordinate with teammates to manage project deadlines and keep design work moving on schedule.
- Troubleshoot design challenges and revise drawings to develop practical solutions for fabrication.
- Collaborate with production and company leadership to clarify project requirements and ensure designs translate effectively to the shop floor.
- Follow established CAD standards and contribute ideas to improve drawing accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
- Communicate with customers as needed to clarify project details and design requirements.
Our Ideal CAD Designer
- Experienced: 3+ years of professional CAD drafting experience; experience with metal fabrication or manufacturing is preferred.
- Technically Skilled: Create and interpret detailed technical drawings, with advanced Autodesk experience preferred, including Inventor and Fusion.
- Practical Problem-Solver: Identify design issues and develop workable solutions that support efficient metal fabrication.
- Growth-Minded: Welcome feedback, enjoy learning, and have an interest in developing toward future technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities. Previous leadership experience is not required.
- Organized & Dependable: Manage multiple projects, establish priorities, and keep design work moving on schedule.
- Collaborative & Respectful: Work effectively with the CAD team, production employees, leadership, and customers while reflecting Metalum's values of humility, hard work, respect, and service.
